Remember your mercies, O Lord.

Grade 8 Retreat
Grade 8 students on retreat at Camp Don Bosco

"Many Gifts, One Spirit.

We all have gifts from God, so let us share them."

These are the opening lines to this year's theme song.  At yesterday's Mass, the students brought our theme to life.  It was such an uplifting experience.  One could feel Jesus smiling on us, appreciating the gifts the children presented.  I have been visiting the classrooms and I can attest to teachers and students sharing their gifts very well.    Parents are also sharing; the Parish Picnic was so much fun, and the food was delicious.  Thank you also to those who are helping around the school and running our after-school clubs.   It is so refreshing to see so many students interested in pursuing extra technology and math classes!  We are so blessed!

ITBS, standardized testing begins next week.  You can help your children by ensuring that they get a great night's sleep and eat a good breakfast.

Reminder!  We have had two reports of students being approached by a stranger (a transient) in the neighborhood.  The first occurred before school, as a student was walking to school.  The second occurred Monday afternoon closer to 85th after school.    Police were informed.

Please talk to your children about 'stranger danger' and what to do in the event that they are ever approached.  Remind them to walk to school, to the library, to Kumon, etc. with a buddy.

Beannacht - God Bless,

Bernadette O'Leary

Scrip News

Thank you to all the families participating in the St. John Scrip program.  Because of you we were able to get new textbooks this year!!  Our numbers are growing in the right direction.  We believe we can do better!  If every family would buy their groceries through the Scrip program we would make a huge impact on the monies returned to St. John.  Please let us know how we can help make this process as easy as possible for you.  Lisa and I can always be reached at scrip@stjohnsea.org or feel free to talk to us at pick up or drop off!  Thank you.  Lisa Mendenhall
