A Message From the Principal
Bernadette O'Leary

It has been a pleasure to be among you so often this week. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tailgate gathering - delicious food, great company, sunshine. What a wonderful way to celebrate the new school year. Thank you, Parent Association, for the many hours you dedicated to organizing this event.
The middle school curriculum night was well attended and we look forward to tonight's primary and intermediate presentations. We will gather at 7:00 pm at Egan Hall. The Family Handbook and the Family Directory will be distributed during the classroom sessions. The Family Handbook is your guide to the policies and procedures with which we and all (parents and school) agree to abide.
We have another opportunity to gather at the table this coming Sunday - two in fact. First we gather for Eucharist and then we gather again at the parish picnic at Woodland Park. See you there!
May the Light of Christ shine on you,
Beannacht,
Bernadette

VOLUNTEER NEWS Parish Funeral Committee Needs Volunteers Families need help with setting the reception and cleaning up afterwards. They may need help shopping for and preparing food. Trying to remember details like turning on the coffee pot, and setting out center pieces on tables are almost impossible if one has lost a family member. To volunteer on a regular basis, please go to the volunteer website and look under parish specific volunteer opportunities. Work Party Scheduled Saturday, September 24, 9am-noon Grounds work is a great way to fulfill your service hours to the school. Work will be done on the grounds around the church and behind the portables. Please bring work gloves, a wheelbarrow (if you have one), and gardening forks or shovels. We'll be spreading bark and doing some light weeding. If you are able to attend, please email the volunteer coordinator at stjohnschoolvolunteers@gmail.com. We hope to see you there! On Line Volunteer Sign Up Many volunteer opportunities still need your time and talents. If you haven't done so already, go to the St. John Volunteer Catalog and sign up. It takes just minutes! Thank You Corner Mrs. Skokan would like to thank Jill Campos for helping in the classroom and setting up our wonderful class volunteer page! The Magazine Drive thanks Jill Campos for acting as our official "Chicken Hanger." Ms. Kelley's fifth grade class would like to thank Steve Bronson for putting book covers on all the new science books! |

Dear Parents, First of all I would like to thank you all for the great support for the "New" lunch program. We have received very positive feedback during the first days of school. This is very much appreciated! Unfortunately, to accommodate our kitchen staff and food preparation, we are adjusting the deadline for ordering from 8:00 a.m. on the day of, to midnight on the day before service. This change will occur beginning on Sept. 19. If you need to cancel you may do so up until 8 a.m. the day of service. The only thing that is changing is the deadline for ordering. Please keep in mind that your preorder is crucial to our program and the amount of time your child has to eat lunch. There have been a number of students in line for lunch that were not on the preorder list. We only prepare enough food each day for those who have preordered. Please remember to preorder at http://www.nojunk-goodfood.com under "Menu," then "Pre-Order." Sincerely, Bente Oestergaard CEO, No Junk Inc. www.nojunk-goodfood.com
