The power of focus

I wanted to share my story with you this week to inspire you in the power of setting goals.... and manisfesting what you want in life, and importatntly never giving up!

 

When I didnt make the qualifying time for the New York marathon last year I put my name in the lottery to see if I would be one of the lucky 8% of people who would get accepted this way.

 

I then made a vision board and I had the New York Marthon logo and date of this years event on the vision board.

 

And then I decided that I would leave it up to the universe to decide if I was going to be in.... and not to my surprise, this week I received an email to say that I was in.

 

It will be a little less than one year on after my pacemaker operation and my goal is to show you that no matter what curve balls life throws your way there is always a way around it... you just have to look for the opportunites in what otherwise might seem like a setback to some.

HIKING IN THE NORTHERN GREECE

Hike to the monasteries of Meteora perched precariously atop towering sandstone pinnacles

 

 In the "hidden" region of Zagori you'll discover a landscape filled with lovely mountain villages connected by a network of stone-tiled pathways and bridges. Here also you'll find high country meadows ablaze with crocus and ringed by towering limestone peaks along with one of the deepest gorges in the world. The monasteries of Meteora perched precariously atop towering sandstone pinnacles are definately a higlight of this region, I was fortunate enough to go hiking there when I was in Greece about 15 years ago and would recommend this area to any adventurous sole planning an over seas hiking trip. 

   

 
RUNNING FOR OLDER PEOPLE
 
Running is an excellent sport for people as they get older, it provides significant benefits which can offset the effects of ageing. Many people take up running so that they keep fit and trim.

Timings and Training - 14 week training programme starts 23rd July

 

Half Marathon Walkers wishing to ensure they make the Bridge by cut-off time should have cleared the following support stations by the following times:

  • Winscombe St Support Station (4km) - 07.38am
  • Taharoto Rd Support Station (8km) - 08.15.am
  • Lake Rd Support Station (11.5km) - 08.48am

In other words you need to walk 1km in about 9 minute minutes - or about 6.5km per hour

Congratulations to Lynn Carter for being a true example of why we keep ourselves fit and strong.  Lynn recently had a fracture in both her elbows and to her Doctors surprise she was able to get back to strength training just 5 weeks after her accident. Having strong bones allowed Lynn to heal much quicker than normal, way to go Lynn!

WALKING GROUP


Join us on the 19th May for the Auckland Coast to Coast Walk
Our next longer walk is the coast to coast walk that will take us from britomart to Onehunga, via Mt Eden and One Tree Hill on the way... if you haven't done this walk I highly recommend it.... I should know as I have done this walk around a dozen times now. If you wish to car pool to the start of the walk then please email me to say that you will meet me at the Fitness Fix studio.
