It's Coming Up Roses at the Kids' Community Dental Clinic
Yellow Zonta roses are blooming outside the new Kids' Community Dental Clinic at 400 West Elmwood. The club made the donation in honor of International Women's Day. Each year on March 8, Zonta clubs around the world raise awareness by spreading their signature yellow rose throughout the communities they serve. The Kids' Community Dental Clinic provides vital oral care for children of low income working families. Learn more.
Wings Grants help women "soar"

In 2009, Semone Roberts, 39 and a single mother of two teenage boys, was struggling. The economy was faltering and so was her job as a recruiter. With few companies hiring, her commissions had plunged. Roberts knew that if she could transition to a job in healthcare, she could look forward to more stable job prospects and steadier income.

Roberts went back to school at Glendale Community College to become a dietician but it was a struggle. Her eldest son was about to enter college too and financial aid just wasn't enough.

Roberts applied to the Zonta Club of Burbank for a Wings grant and became the program's first recipient. The grant allowed her to pay for books and tuition while she studied, worked to keep a roof over her head, and pay for her son to go to college as well.

Do you know an adult woman who needs a financial lift to help her soar? Learn more about the Wings Grant Program at: www.zontaburbank.org/wings
Grants are awarded twice annually. The next deadline for applications is September 30. The award is made in the Fall.
Rounding up new members
As much as Zontians love serving the community, they also love having fun!

On March 15, the club held its annual membership roundup. Members, prospective members and guests gathered at the DeBell Clubhouse for a chili dinner and line dancing!

Zonta always welcomes new members interested in improving the lives of women and working to advance the status of women worldwide. If you are interested visit our website www.zontaburbank.org or send an email to: membership@zontaburbank.org
