Legislative Accountability Report

Have you seen the NH CAN 2011-2012 Legislative Accountability Report? If you haven't, you can review the report here

Each year, members of the New Hampshire state legislature vote on many bills that shape the economic security, education, health and safety of New Hampshire children and families. This report tracks six votes in the Senate and eleven votes in the House of Representatives cast during the 2011-2012 legislative session. During this session, NH CAN partner organizations asked lawmakers to vote on initiatives that promote the well-being of kids.

Fall Workgroups

Work groups are the first step in developing the NH CAN 2013 Priorities for NH's Children. We are beginning the 2013 work groups later this year, to accommodate our Partners schedules

The first work group will be October 15th at 2 Delta Drive, Concord from  9 AM until 11 AM. After reading through your comments from last year, we are reducing the number of workgroups to two. In preparation for this session, we will be sending you a three question survey to understand issues that are on your mind. This survey will become the starting point for our work group discussions.

The first session will be a conversation on "hot topics" identified in the survey and ideas from the past legislative session. By the end of  the two hour session, participants will have created a list of ideas for further exploration. These ideas will be reviewed at the final work group meeting the week of November 13th (final date and time TBA).

Be sure your voice is heard in the 2013 Priorities for NH's Children, join us for this important session.

What do you get when you put democratic and republican candidates on a stage, together, to discuss issues facing NH's kids? You get the NH CAN Gubernatorial Forum on Kids. This event, held in June as the
NH CAN End of Session Celebration, drew record attendance for this event. Partners and guests were treated to a chance to meet and hear from the NH's next governor, discussing his/her views of giving our children the best opportunity for success.

Missed the event? Don't worry. We videotaped the entire event. Beside being rebroadcast on community television stations across NH, the video is on the
Children's Alliance of NH Electoral Education  web page. Listen to what each candidate had to say before you make your decision on Primary Day.
15th Annual Children's Summit

NH CAN's 15th Annual Children's Summit will be held December 5th, at the Concord Holiday Inn. We are still finalizing the program, but will have keynote speakers to provide election analysis and 2013 state budget analysis. We will be offering an overview of the upcoming legislative session and, as always, we will be voting on the 2013 Priorities for NH's Children. The difference this year, Summit voting will make the final decision on which Priorities become the NH CAN agenda!. Don't miss this important and enjoyable event.

Mark your calendars. pre-registration begins soon.
