PRQA Newsletter - Q3 2012

Greetings!

Welcome to the latest PRQA newsletter. We hope you find it informative, interesting and above all useful.

Our next Webinar: Continuous Code Inspection - Advancing Software Quality At Source

There is strong evidence that formal code inspections (as opposed to informal code reviews) significantly reduce the number of defects in the source code at an early stage. The main challenge is to make these code inspections as effective as possible and to reduce the burden on critical development resources in today's dynamic and fast-changing development environments.

In this webinar, we will introduce the concept of Continuous Code Inspection, and through a high integrity C/C++ use-case will demonstrate how an organization's code inspection process can be optimized through the use of automated code inspection and improved collaboration - enforcing safe language usage, encouraging coding best practices and removing defects from source code before test.

Bosch uses QA·C++ to assess code quality in open source Robot Operating System (ROS)

ROS (Robot Operating System) is a collaborative, open source initiative comprising of more than twenty institutions. The aim is to enable software developers to build robot applications quickly and easily on a common platform, by providing hardware abstraction, device drivers, libraries, visualizers, message-passing, package management, and more. (Learn more at www.ros.org)

One of Bosch Research and Technology Center North America's contributions to this community has been to use QA·C++ to assess the quality of this open source code. Learn more directly from Senior Research Engineer, Benjamin Pitzer, in his presentation at the annual ROSCon 2012, conference in Minnesota, US.
Continuous Integration - PRQA Jenkins Plugin

JenkinsIn September we sponsored the European Jenkins CI user event in Denmark and announced our Jenkins plugin. The 'early and often' approach that we advocate for our static analysis solutions clearly resonates with the Continuous Integration philosophy, and this new plugin greatly enhances the user experience when deployed in a Jenkins environment.

Register your interest for our next webinar showcasing the PRQA Jenkins Plugin.

Announcing ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 Certification

We are pleased to announce that both QA·C and QA·C++ (in conjunction with our MISRA Compliance Modules) are now independently certified by TÜV SÜD as "fit for purpose" for ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.

Get more details on the technical scope of our tools and compliance with ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.

QA·C 8.1 offers enhanced dataflow capability and increased MISRA enforcement

 QA-C Button

This new version of QAC further enhances the performance of our advanced dataflow analysis engine coupled with an industry-proven Satisfiability Modulo Theories (SMT) solver, providing improved and revised type conversion analysis and increased MISRA enforcement.

Webinar:

Software Development for Safety-Critical Environments

Presented by Dr Rachel Gartshore in August, this webinar provides an overview of the key similarities and differences in approach adopted by standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508 and DO-178B/C and the role of coding standards and static analysis within these processes.
