Independent assessment of static analysis/MISRA tools

Tera Labs Graph

TERA-Labs - a research division of the Karel de Grote University College, Antwerp - has published an independent assessment of static analysis tools.

In conjunction with a panel of industrial partners they selected a representative sample of MISRA-C rules, created test code containing deliberate rule violations, and assessed the effectiveness of 8 key commercial tools in finding these violations. In particular they benchmarked each tool's performance in respect to false positives (noise) and false negatives (missed non-compliances).

Webinar: A Pragmatic Approach to Software Quality Management QA Verify

During our most recent webinar on 8th February, Fergus Bolger, our CTO, examined some of the key areas that continue to challenge development teams who are striving to develop quality code, including:

  • How to make code reviews more effective
  • Providing evidence that code complies to a coding standard
  • Mechanisms to manage deviations from coding rules
  • Ways to handle a mix of legacy code and new code
  • Using composite quality metrics to assess software quality
  • Recognizing that "software quality" means different things to different stakeholders
  • Outlining best practices, processes and tools which can address these challenges
