Solar Energy Changes Idea of Traditional Recycling this Earth Day
By year's end, the average American household will have spent close to $1,900 on energy and released over 26,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per household into the atmosphere.
This past Earth Day, as Americans searched for information on renewable energy and the environment, search keywords indicate Americans no longer believe the three R's (reduce - reuse - recycle) are enough to preserve our planet for future generations.
According to Yahoo! Green, online searches for "recycling" are down 93% from Earth Day 2009 but "solar energy" searches soared, up 208%
The demand for solar energy in Massachusetts alone has increased twenty-fold from 2007 to date. In the first quarter of 2011, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) reports that over $4.4 million in new rebates were awarded to 197 planned solar installation projects throughout the state. |

MA SRECs for Beaumont Customers Sell For $580 per SREC
Beaumont Solar wants for its customers to receive the highest prices possible for their SRECs with no hassles. The SREC aggregator company the majority of our customers use just achieved a price of $580 per credit for our customers (one credit = every 1,000kWhrs a system produces) for the latest minting of SRECs on April 15, 2011. Best of all, all of the customers received their checks by the end of April. |
Clarke Distribution Readies for May Installation
460kW System to Make Utility Bills Vanish
Clarke Distribution, New England's exclusive distributor of premium brand appliances has selected Beaumont Solar to install a 460kW Solyndra solar system to power their entire showroom and warehouse facilities in Milford, MA. Roof preparations are wrapping up as the company prepares for the arrival of their 2,304 solar panels which are currently on their way via rail transport from Fremont, CA. Beaumont will begin installing by mid-May.
Once complete, Clarke Distribution will begin generating their own clean and natural electricity by the end of June. Beaumont has designed the system to be 100% net zero, whereby the energy produced by the system along with a few internal energy efficiency changes Clarke is already adopting, will allow Clarke to power the entire facility by the sun.
Clarke finalized their decision to go solar by choosing products that are made in America that would be installed by a local Massachusetts-based installer who performs the entire installation process by using its own internal company employees, making Beaumont Solar the logical choice. Clarke Distribution is committed to reducing their carbon footprint by always conducting the most environmentally responsible business operations. For continuous progress photos on this and other installations, visit our Project Photos page.

"Discounted" Solar Can Mean Headaches for the Long Haul
The US solar industry grew by 67% in 2010. When a statement like that comes out, what's the natural effect? A virtual worldwind of companies coming out of nowhere like a tornado offering discounted solar options. But beware, more than just the solar panels will be "discounted". And once it's up on the roof, if not efficient, it can turn into a financial headache literally hanging over your head for the next 25 years.
One important thing to avoid when choosing to install solar is "outsourcing". We've all heard the saying "Too many cooks in the kitchen can spoil the broth". Likewise, too many solar subcontractors can spoil the production.
Solar systems are a fine-tuned technology in terms of system operation and return on investment...truly a technology where "You get what you pay for", and each component must work together seamlessly. Oherwise, what you're likely to get are panels with lower kilowatt per hour production, resulting in a lower amount of solar renewable energy credits to sell, less than promised utility bill reductions, and technical problems causing multiple system downtimes. And all this utlimately means a payback on your investment taking up to 3 times longer. Not to mention the circles of calls for technical service wondering who's responsible for what when so many components of the installation process were outsourced. Every day of down time, means lost revenue for a system owner.
At Beaumont Solar, nothing is outsourced. Every aspect from design to installation to system maintenance is handled in-house. It's that commitment to total service that has made Beaumont Solar the #1 solar installer in Southeastern Massachusetts and the second largest in the Commonwealth.

Homeowners, Block 6 of MassCEC Rebates Opens
Block 6 of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center's Commonwealth Solar II residential solar rebate program has officially opened (click for details Block 6 ). Beaumont Solar is a long-time trusted and recognized installer with the MassCEC's various rebate programs. Combining thousands of dollars worth of rebate savings with our solar financing options and the revenue a solar system generates for you, makes owning a solar system less expensive than what you currently pay utility companies for your electricity every month.

Can You Make Ice with the Sun? ... Sure!
It's the Least Expensive Way
In fact, the best time to make ice with the sun is in the summer. Some of the commercial businesses that have been contacting us at Beaumont Solar to help them lower their utility costs include Seafood Distributors and Fish Processing Plants. These types of businesses rely heavily on ice production, which translates into high utility bills.
So what better way to make ice the least expensive way than by the natural way...by harnessing the power of the sun. For example, a Fairhaven seafood distribution facility had Beaumont Solar install a 156kW system spanning two of their three buildings on the property. Now, in a typical year, 167,200 kilowatt hours of the electricity the facility uses will be generated entirely by the solar system. Utility savings, grants, and marketable SRECs would make installing a system such as this an actual source of revenue due to the decreased operating expenses, and it pays for itself in just 4.6 years.
Contact Beaumont Solar and we will assess your kilowatt hour usage and roof space, breakdown the numbers and calculate the actual
payback period and added revenues you could expect. |

Treasury 1603 Grant and Depreciation Eligibility 2011
For business owners and homeowners considering a solar energy system as a way to lower or eliminate their utility bills, currently set expiration dates of valuable money saving solar programs make now the ideal time to choose solar for the greatest savings and shortest payback time. For a commercial system: The Federal Treasury 1603 renewable energy grant requires a system to be installed and operational by December 31, 2011 or qualify as 5% "in process" by that time. This is a cash grant totaling 30% of the total cost of their solar system. To qualify for the additional 100% depreciation incentive, the solar system must also be placed in service by December 31, 2011. In 2012, this depreciation allowance will reduce to 50%. Contact Beaumont Solar (or call us at 508-990-1701) for a free solar assessment and take advantage of these valuable incentives before they expire. |
Utility rates affect everyone, and Beaumont Solar is committed to providing energy savings to the region in a manner that preserves the environment and utilizing the most technologically advanced and efficient solar systems.
