$500 for Youth-Led Service Projects | |

Alaska ICE is offering $500 cash awards (on a reimbursable basis) for qualified youth led summer service projects. Eligible projects involve youth-adult partnerships that plan and carry out community-based service activities. Previous projects include a community mural in Seward, a quilting project for seniors in Fairbanks, and a youth empowerment celebration at a church in Anchorage.
The deadline for the application is May 30, 2012.

Full Circle Scholarships available for Alaska Native Students | |

The American Indian College Fund was established in 1989 to provide scholarships to American Indian students and to fund and create awareness about the community-based accredited tribal colleges and universities that offer students access to knowledge and skills alongside Native culture, language, and values.
The American Indian College Fund provides Full Circle scholarships to students attending non-tribal colleges and graduate students attending all colleges.
All scholarships require U.S. Citizenship and American Indian or Alaska Native tribe membership, or proof of descendancy (parent or grandparent). Full-time enrollment is required for all scholarships.

SAGA is hiring Serve Alaska Youth Corps members. They are seeking young adults (17 to 24 years old) that are:
- Looking for a summer service experience
- Seeking to improve their work skills and experience
- Willing to take the steps to reconnect with a positive lifestyle
- Ready to form fun, new friendships with others from across the state
Project Summary:
Alaska Service Corps projects are located throughout Alaska from June 4th-August 14th. All projects are located outdoors and are completed in all weather conditions. Typical projects include roadside safety project (tree clearing, brush removal, clearing behind highway guardrails), invasive plant species removal and trail maintenance. Projects such as stream restoration and cabin maintenance are also possible.
You will recieve approximately $1,000 monthly living stipend and, at the end of the summer, a $1,468 Educational Award (to be used at any college).

$500 Get Ur Good On Grants | |
If you're ready to make a positive impact in your community,
Youth Service America (YSA) wants to help! With $500 Get Ur Good On Grants, you'll have the inspiration, project support, and necessary funding to turn your idea into a reality.
Kids and young adults ages 5-25 are eligible to apply for a $500 Get Ur Good On Grant to support youth-led projects. Projects must address a demonstrated community need or issue, and must take place during June, July and/or August 2012.
Applicants must have a Project Mentor to help throughout the project and applicants under 18 must have their parent/guardian's permission.
Applications are due by midnight May 27th, 2012.

Apply for the 2012 Bristol Bay Salmon Camp | |

The 2012 High School Salmon Camp is now accepting applications. This science based summer camp runs from July 24th-30th and is hosted by the UAF Bristol Bay Campus and BBEDC on Lake Aleknagik in Bristol Bay. Students will receive a scholarship to cover travel, lodging, and food as well as tuition for this 1 credit course.
While many local students will receive funding from a local organization (BBEDC), the UAF Bristol Bay Campus has funding to support at least five Alaskan students from outside the Bristol Bay region!
Hurry! The application is due May 15th.

The Afterschool Awards |

The Afterschool Awards is a nationwide contest spotlighting after school achievements for middle school and junior high students. Students have a chance to turn their afterschool passion into cash for their future education. Students are invited to enter Afterschool Awards between now and June 25th for a chance to win up to $10,000 in scholarship money. You can enter in up to four categories: Sports, Community Service, Science and Music & Arts to show everyone what you've got going on after the bell rings. Last year's winners were a wave-catching surfer, a fund-raising philanthropist, a star mathlete and a pop-lock dancer! |

Each year, over 150 youth are nominated for the Spirit of Youth Award. Nominations are made by anyone who wishes to recognize a hard-working, inspiring teenager or youth group in one of 11 award categories.
Spirit of Youth is governed by a board of directors and the Teen Advisory Council.
