The Nick Begich Scholarship Intern Fund is for Alaskans pursuing degrees and/or careers in education, government, and public service. There is no age limitation on scholarship applications.
There will be one $2,000 Eugene A. Kennedy scholarship to the highest-scoring applicant which may be renewed for up to four years. Up to three $1,500 scholarships will also be awarded. Separate smaller awards may be considered for deserving candidates.
The Fund was created in 1977 by friends and family of the late Congressman Nick Begich. Since its start the Fund has provided over $320,000 in support of Alaskans interested in pursuing careers in education, government, and public service. National Journalism Scholarship Seeking Alaskan Students | |
The annual Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference program awards $1,000 college scholarships to high school juniors who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism and who demonstrate qualities of "free spirit."
Students will come to Washington, D.C., July 14-19, 2012, to receive their awards and participate in an all-expenses-paid journalism conference at the Newseum. The scholarships and conference are designed to inspire and encourage students to pursue journalism.
Students who are high school juniors in the 2011-2012 academic year are eligible to apply. Fifty-one students, representing each of the 50 states and Washington, D.C., will be accepted to attend the conference.
The deadline to submit an application to the conference program is February 15, 2012.

First Alaskans 2012 Summer Internship Program | |
First Alaskans in offering a 10 week paid internship with statewide placement options. The carefully designed recruitment process matches an intern with a partner organization. The process includes reviewing the student's areas of study and interest, employer needs, and then making a match. Students are paid a competitive wage. Those not based in Anchorage are provided travel and related expenses.
Alaska Native, American Indian, and rural Alaskan college students or recent college graduates in good academic standing are encouraged to apply.

Alaska Summer Research Academy Accepting Applications |
The Alaska Summer Research Academy (ASRA) is now accepting applications for their 2012 summer programs. 
ASRA is an intensive, two-week learning experience for students with an interest in science, technology, engineering and math. Students study one subject and work in small teams participating in project based learning in a college-like environment.
Instructors are faculty, graduate students and industry professionals. There are no grades, tests or homework. Classes are designed to be fun and engaging while offering challenging content.
Students in June attend classes during the day. Students in July live in UAF dorms, attend their class during the day and participate in a wide variety of fun activiites in the evenings and weekend.
Financial assistance and travel scholarships are available.

Buick Achievers Scholarship Available | |
The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program wants to reward students who have succeeded both inside and outside of the classroom-and who may not be able to attend college without financial assistance. It's a reward for what you've made of yourself and the difference you are making for others.
The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is offering:
- Up to $25,000 per year for 100 first-time freshman or existing college students, renewable up to four years and one additional year for those entering a qualified five-year engineering program.
- $2,000 one-time awards for an additional 1,000 students.
- Be high school seniors/graduates/current undergraduates
- Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited U.S. four-year college or university for the entire 2012-13 academic year
- Plan to major in a specified course of study that focuses on Engineering/Technology or select Design and Business-related programs of study
- Be interested in pursuing a career in the automotive or related industries

KTUU's Fund the Future $3,000 Monthly Award | |

One Alaskan student who is 10 to 18 years old will be chosen each month as KTUU's Fund the Future award recipient. They will receive a $3000 UA College Savings Plan account opened in their name. Student nominees and their parents must be willing to supply photographs and information for creation of a profile feature for air on KTUU Channel 2 as well as posting on www.ktuu.com.
A student may be nominated more than once in an academic year (academic year runs September-July), but cannot win more than once per academic year. Nominations received by the 15th of each month will be considered for that month's award. Nominations received after this date will be held over to the next month.Explain here in 300 words or less why you think some one you know should be selcted.

Spirit of Youth is dedicated to creating, promoting and recognizing youth involvement in communities across Alaska.
Each year, over 150 youth are nominated for the Spirit of Youth Award. Nominations are made by anyone who wishes to recognize a hard-working, inspiring teenager or youth group in one of 11 award categories.
Spirit of Youth is governed by a board of directors and the Teen Advisory Council.
