Youth Policy Summit Applications Due Dec. 15th |
The Youth Policy Summit invites youth ages 18-24 to offer their perspectives to legislators and other policy-makers about issues related to Alaska's social services system-such as foster care, residential care, juvenile justice, homeless services, and more.
This is an opportunity to gain valuable skills to speak up about the things you care about!
The Summit will be held in Juneau on February 12-15, 2012.

Scholarships for LGBTQ and Straight Ally Student Leaders | |

Pride Foundation and The Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA) award scholarships to build leadership and promote diversity in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and straight-ally communities.
Scholarships may be used for any post-secondary education including non-traditional degrees, trade or technical programs, community colleges, four-year public and private universities, and accredited certificate programs.
There are 50 different types of scholarships with awards up to $20,000.
Applications due January 31st, 2012.

Sodexo Youth Grants Deadline January 17th | |

Youth Service America (YSA) will award 100 Sodexo Youth Grants of $500 each to support youth-led service projects in the United States that address the issue of childhood hunger on Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22, 2012). They are looking for projects that engage your peers, friends, families, neighbors, and other community members in creative, youth-inspired solutions to ending childhood hunger in your community. Over 17 million children in the United States live at risk of hunger.
YSA and Sodexo are calling on young people, ages 5-25, to help make sure your peers don't have to worry about where their next meal will come from. Applications are due January 17th, 2012.

Spirit of Youth is dedicated to creating, promoting and recognizing youth involvement in communities across Alaska.
Each year, over 150 youth are nominated for the Spirit of Youth Award. Nominations are made by anyone who wishes to recognize a hard-working, inspiring teenager or youth group in one of 11 award categories.
Spirit of Youth is governed by a board of directors and the Teen Advisory Council.
