Casino Ends Year on Strong Note, Sees Domestic ResurgenceCasino has reported strong sales growth for its year-ending quarter. For the three months to end-December, net sales were up 13.4% to €8.3bn, with sales in France up 3.8% to €4.82n. The results vindicate Casino's strategy to revive domestic results, and it said it was satisfied with "the noticeably faster growth". Meanwhile, international sales surged by 30% to 3.5bn, helped partly by the acquisition of Casas Bahia in Brazil. For the full year, sales were up 8.7% to €29.1bn.

Wal-Mart Gets the Green Light to Expand Into AfricaWal-Mart scored a major win for their international expansion campaign when Massmart Holdings Ltd., a South African-based retailer, accepted the retail giant's offer to buy 51 percent of their company. Though Wal-Mart has 8,692 stores in 15 countries, including Brazil, China and India, this deal marks their first entry into the African market.

Jumbo Electronics Invests Dh50m in Expansion PlanJumbo Electronics is investing Dh50 million this year as part of the retail outlet's expansion plan in Abu Dhabi and India. The UAE electronics retailer said it will open eight stores, and planned up to 12 stores this year if it finds the right kind of space. Suspects in Several Thefts Roll Cart Out of Superior Target and Into Cops
A theft ring that made a habit of stealing from Target stores picked the wrong time to be fleeing their latest mark. Boulder County deputies had just pulled into the parking lot of a Target store at 400 Center Drive in Superior on Friday to check out a stolen car when they saw three suspicious men, according to Sgt. Tom McGrath, a sheriff's spokesman. The men were pushing a shopping cart bulging with stolen electronics equipment they had just swiped from the Target, McGrath said. As it turns out, they were headed to the same car that had been reported as being stolen from Arvada, he said. Deputies promptly arrested the three, McGrath said.
