DMARC's Community of Interfaith Youth(CItY) | |
In the CItY (Community of Interfaith Youth) we engage youth of different religious backgrounds to use their religious difference as an opportunity to be compassionate and serve one another and the greater community in which they live.
CItY, a DMARC program, meets once a month, on the 2nd Thursday, to build relationships among youth of different religions backgrounds and to serve.
A Legacy - Larry Myers was passionate about serving the community. He served as
president of DMARC and the DMARC Foundation, and he played a
key role in bringing the Jewish community into the DMARC family.
Additionally, his leadership moved DMARC to play key role in establishing Hospice of Central Iowa. Larry fervently believed in
DMARC's service initiatives. |

Hey Youth! Attend an Interfaith Justice Camp...
Learn about social justice in our community and how YOU can make a difference! (For youth ages 14-18 years old.) The day-long camp includes:
- Tour of DMARC Food Pantry
- Tour various worship spaces
- Tour a community outreach organization
- Expert speakers
- Games
- Small & large group sharing
- Pray with others from various faith traditions

This event is facilitated by the Center for Social Ministry, an organization that provides poverty awareness/justice education programming in Des Moines.

Who we are?
The Des Moines Area Religious Council is an interfaith organization with a core membership of about 140 congregations from four faith traditions. Recipient of the 2010 Aurora Award from the Des Moines Register, DMARC provides a common means of responding to basic human needs and a context for interfaith dialogue.
The DMARC Food Pantry Network consists of 12 separate pantry sites, a centralized warehouse, and numerous community partners. It is the largest food pantry network in Iowa. Pantry sites are located in West Des Moines, Ankeny, Johnston, Urbandale, and eight sites in Des Moines. In 2010, the DMARC Food Pantry Network assisted about 10,000 families.
MovetheFood is a DMARC-led initiative to address the entire food system in Greater Des Moines, building on more than 35 years of the Food Pantry Network, catalyzing fresh generations, and engaging new constituencies to further support a vision for a day when everyone in Polk County has enough to eat. |
