Pledge Now to DMARC Through Birdies-for-Charity
Anyone making a pledge to DMARC before the Principal Charity Golf Classic, May 28-June 1, will help us raise funds for our Food Pantry Network in the Des Moines area. If DMARC reaches $1.50 in penny pledges or $1,500 in flat donations, we are eligible to receive a 25% match. The top 25 charities also receive additional Bonus Bucks, up to $2,500, provided by Sammons Financial. Birdies for Charity is a fundraising program designed to give participants an opportunity to generate contributions based on the number of "birdies" made by Champions Tour players during The Principal Charity ClassicŪ. Beautiful Plants, Jobs for Unemployed and a Fundraiser - All in One!
Based out of St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Des Moines, the Community Interfaith Worm Project creates jobs for area unemployed persons through the production of worm casting "tea bags". After red worms digest organic matter they leave behind excretions called castings. Worm castings stimulate plant growth. They are packed with a balance of essential macro and micro nutrients, minerals, bacteria and enzymes needed for plant growth. Plants absorb the nutrients in the castings quickly and easily.
By soaking the "tea bags" in water, you create a rich natural liquid fertilizer for your plants. Several local churches now sell the bags on a permanent basis to their congregations. Bags are sold to individuals for $5.00 each; to faith groups for $3.00 each, with the intention that a faith group will sell the bag again for $5.00, making a $2.00 profit which goes to the ministry of their choosing. For more info, visit: http://wormproject.wordpress.com. To order, contact: Helen@communitywormproject.org. |
