President's Note
Dear NYSMEANS,
I hope you are having a fantastic summer, and enjoying all of our many marine environments.
Several of your fellow members just returned from the National Marine Educators Association Conference (NMEA) in Alaska. | |
A humpback whale in Alaska takes a dive.
| In addition to wonderful workshops, excellent keynote speakers, and more, most of us did some playing and exploring. For instance, I went on an amazing whale watch trip and saw orcas, humpbacks, sea otters, Dall porpoises, Steller sea lions, and more. NYSMEA is a chapter of this national organization, which is a great network to be a part of. NMEA also has an annual conference.
Next year's event will take place in Mobile, Alabama. I hope you'll consider joining us down there to explore the Gulf, eat some sustainable Gulf seafood, and meet lots of great marine educators from across the country. You can also check out NMEA on Facebook.
