President's Note

Dear NYSMEANS,

I'm happy to report that next week, 15 NYSMEA members will be heading to South Louisiana helping to keep an eye on the work we did last year, and to assist with new wetland planting projects. With the help of many partners, including the Golden Meadow Plant Materials Center, the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program (BTNEP), and the Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON), NYSMEAns will work at all stages of the wetland plant propagation and planting processes. This year, a grant from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY, will support two graduate students to join the group and to bring their experience back to classrooms in the Bronx and beyond.

Keep an eye on what your fellow NYSMEAns are doing in Louisiana through our facebook page or our blog.  The first blog post will include information about all of the participants.

We will have a great trip, and are very excited to share what we learn with you all when we get back!
