"Beautiful Bathrooms" Issue
HGTV Magazine's
When upgrading and updating your master bathroom, you
should consider incorporating luxury into the design to create a customized retreat. An atmosphere of personal indulgence, which used to be the domain of day spas, is finding its way into master baths remodels. Limited only by imagination and a project's budget, standard master baths are turning into customized retreats. The good news is luxury can be incorporated into any design. When it comes to extras in a master bathroom remodel, look toward the luxurious. Hang an extravagant chandelier over a soaking tub; add built-in warming drawers for towels or install a pass-through fireplace for ambience and warmth. You might also consider increasing the master bathroom's convenience by housing your washer and dryer, adjacent dressing rooms or even massage tables in the space. Sound systems and televisions have become quite common in master bathrooms, but today's remodels are taking the concept to a new level. Flat screens are becoming more popular and in-mirror models, where the television is visible only when it is on, are another option. Click HERE for the entire HGTV article. |
Phillips Interactive Mirror (video)
ll
Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who's the fairest of them all? And what is my body mass index today?
Taking the "smart" mirror to the next level, this interactive mirror from Phillips allows you to check the local traffic and weather before you leave home. You can also track your body weight, height and body mass index with the help of a connected and computerized bath mat. A mirror cam lets you check out the back of your head and there is also a zoom feature for doing make-up. What's next? A Siri-like talking feature?! Click here for the video demonstration. |

Car Guy Corner:
A note from the desk of David Domenichini
Well, a lot has changed in the past couple of weeks. I let one car go from my corral, but added two. (So much for trying to downsize!)
Many people are surprised that after nearly ten years, I have decided it's time to part with Sophia, my '69 Camaro Pace Car Convertible. They comment, "You've owned that car for so long and you have so many memories"! I respond by saying that we (us "car guys") never really "own" our cars. I think of it more like we are the "care-takers" of these machines, for a particular period in time. We enjoy them and hopefully preserve them, then pass them on to the next care-takers so that they may create memories of their own. It would be selfish not to share. Although we pass the cars on, we get to keep the memories. And Sophia was kind enough to bring us many wonderful memories.
New to the stable are Mitch (a '71 RS Z2/8) and Lola (a '65 Chevelle Malibu Convertible). Here's to creating new memories!

The Video Corner:
Do you like to watch the morning news in your bathroom as you get dressed and ready to start your day? Watch this video from Kohler which highlights a mirrored bath cabinet with an 8" widescreen LCD TV in the door. Too cool!
