The March 11, 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami
The Ohlheiser Corporation would like to express our sincere sympathy to friends and colleagues in Japan affected by the earthquake and tsunami which took place on March 11, 2011. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
We are very pleased to announce that we do not expect any major impact to our SMC customers specifically. Due to their extensive inventory in North America and their global production facilities outside of Japan SMC customers should remain unaffected for the majority of items.
We have been in touch with our other vendors in Japan (Panasonic & Epson Robots) and while the damage to their factories has reportedly been very minimal, there remains some uncertainty as to its impact on deliveries. The main challenge at this time is getting consistent electricity to the factories and, to a lesser extent, the transportation infrastructure. Our vendors are working to maintain production and continue the flow of products.
The Ohlheiser Corporation and its vendors would like to re-assure our customers that there is considerable inventory available in the United States, both in Ohlheiser inventory as well as several factory locations around the USA. We are also working to increase stocking levels at our Connecticut warehouse. Our staff is well trained and often able to offer substitute products for urgent requirements.

Series XT661 Non-Contact Vacuum Cyclone Pads
With the cyclone pad non-contract conveyance is possible. Air from the supply port is ejected from a nozzle on the cylindrical side to generate a whirlwind flow inside the cylinder which creates a vacuum. Supply air is discharged to the atmosphere from between the suction surface and the workpiece. As a result, an air layer is generated between the cyclone pad and the workpiece, resulting in the workpiece being lifted without contact.
The Cyclone Pad works well with many difficult to hold materials:
- Materials that are sensitive to surface scars
- Porous Material
- Thin workpieces
- Workpieces with holes

Epson 110VAC 6-Axis Robots
Introducing a high performance 110 VAC power solution with EPSON C3 Compact 6 Axis Robots for non-standard manufacturing environments.
Until now, all EPSON Robots required a 220 VAC power source. This is normally not a problem in typical manufacturing factories. However, with more robots being used in non-manufacturing environments such as medical laboratories, clinics, hospitals and even office environments, 220 VAC is many times not available.
Espons' compact 110 VAC C3 6-Axis robots are a perfect fit for these environments and are an ideal solution for handling prototyping, testing, research and other lab oriented applications.
