Reasons to spay or neuter your pets
Surgery At our office, we've heard it all... "If I spay my pet, she will become fat and lazy" and "If I neuter my dog, his personality will change." These myths have been passed down for years. In reality, the surgery will greatly benefit your pet in many ways. They will remain a healthy weight if they are fed the correct amount of food and exercised properly and they will be just as sweet as they always were.

The many advantages of spaying and neutering include the elimination of unwanted pregnancies, the decreased risk of breast or prostate cancer, eliminates the risk of ovarian and testicular cancer and reduces roaming. Unwanted pregnancies result in more than 4 million pets each year being euthanized in U.S. shelters.

If you have been putting off having your pet spayed or neutered because you are concerned about the risks to your pet, rest assured that in many situations the advantages outweigh the risks. Be sure to speak to one of our staff members about scheduling this important procedure for your pet.
Buyer Beware: Online Pharmacies
Pet medications can sometimes be expensive, and in our current economic climate many people are looking to save money. FDA experts warn that buying your pet's medications online may not be the way to go. Many medications require ongoing medical examinations and blood work that an online pharmacy cannot assist with. You can read the entire article published by the FDA by clicking on this link.

Here at EOAH, we can help you with this by offering routine medications such as heartworm preventative and flea control at pricing comparable to what you would find at an online pharmacy. We also have a link on our website that you can use to order medications from the convenience of your home. The medications are shipped from one of our distributors, so we know the product is authentic, guaranteed by the by the manufacturer and not expired. Click to here to visit EOAH's online pharmacy!

GusPet of the Month
Congratulations to this month's Pets of the Month!

Gus Morse has been a healthy boxer over the years and enjoyed coming to visit us for day care. In December, Gus lost the use of one of his hind legs and was in a lot of pain. After spending many days in the hospital for treatment, he is on his way to recovery and is even beginning to attend his much beloved day care sessions again!

Blackie Kennedy is a young kitten who has already been through a lot in his short lifetime. He has had many urinary issues and has already been through two major surgeries, but he is not letting it get him down! He is such a trooper and a joy to all of us.

Thank you for taking a few moments to read our newsletter. We hope that is was both informative and fun to read! Be sure to check our website www.eoah.com frequently or join our facebook page for
up-to-date information about what is happening in our clinic!

Sincerely,

Your friends at East Orlando Animal Hospital
