Corsica River Spring Regatta
Sunday 6 May, Corsica River Yacht Club on the Chesapeake's picturesque and tranquil Eastern Shore will host the inaugural, one day, Corsica River Spring Regatta. The regatta will be held at Corsica River's Ship Point and run inside the Corsica, as opposed to out in the Chester. This will make for a more convenient and short sail out to the course.
Corsica River Yacht Club is a great place to sail with plenty of open water, limited motor boat chop, easy beach launching and grass on which to park, rig, camp and just hang out. Though this is the inaugural event it will surely have the same laid back yet competitive atmosphere expected at Corsica River, including dinner at the club after sailing.
Camping is highly encouraged and FREE. There is a protected anchorage at the club for cruising boats too. |
| TUESDAY NITE MATCH RACING | | |
Annapolis Match Race Center (AMRC)
Starting next Tuesday 8 May and going through the end of August (except 3 July) the Annapolis Match Race Center intends to run a separate, bring-your-own-boat, series each month. AMRC invites qualified sailors in four classes; J/22, J/24 (no genoa), J/80, and Etchells to race. Other fleets may petition to join also.
Helmspersons must be qualified members, however all are invited to join and learn. Please join in promoting, learning about and umpiring match racing. The AMRC membership fee is only $100 per year after a one-time initiation fee of $100.

| SCC/GIYS SPRING REGATTA | | |
NEW Club Class Divsion
A Club Class Division was added to the SCC/GIYS Spring Regatta to expose more sailors to CBYRA sanctioned racing events. If you like point to point races that are traditionally part of club cruises, you will enjoy this race. By entering in the SCC/GIYS Spring Regatta on Saturday 19 May and the MRSA Spring Classic on Sunday 20 May, skippers can sail three of the races required to qualify for CBYRA High Point in one weekend. The idea was to provide a tune-up distance qualifier that finished in the Annapolis area with a true destination finish and social with an easy trip home or to the party.
Competitors in the SCC/GIYS Spring Regatta can expect to finish the race in time for the awards party at the Gibson Island Boathouse that will include supper and an open bar. Party tickets for the skipper and three crew members are included in the entry fee. Additional party tickets are $25 per person. Register online by Thursday 10 May to take advantage of the Early Bird special rate.
