VIRGINIA BOATERS CARD | |
Boating Safety Education Required
Sooner or later you have to get your Virginia Boaters Card so register for a qualifying course (and test) hosted by a southern Bay boating association, like Fishing Bay Yacht Club. There are courses scheduled all over Virginia at high schools, YMCAs, DMV offices, even Bass Pro stores. For details and class availability go to www.dgif.virginia.gov/boating.
The State requirement for boating safety education is phased-in over several years and applies to all Personal Watercraft (PWC) operators and operators of boats with motors of 10hp and greater.
Beginning July 1, 2012, all PWC operators regardless of age must take a boating safety course and Boat operators ages 30 and younger need to take a boating safety course. |
