For those entering or considering the Bermuda Ocean Race (BOR), organizers are hosting the "Using Weather Wisely" seminar at Bacon Sails & Marine Supplies, 116 Legion Avenue, Annapolis on Saturday 19 November from 0900 to 1200.
The seminar will focus on weather patterns for the Chesapeake Bay, Gulf Stream and the open ocean using publically-available information. The presentation will include gathering information before the start of the race and collecting and using data while underway. The panelists are weather professionals who are also experienced ocean sailors and racers. "They will go beyond textbook theories to bring a 'real world perspective' to the seminar," said Mary Ann De Graw, BOR chair.
This featured seminar is free and open to the public. Contact Kristy Goode: kristy@sailingclasses.com or 410-570-9710 for seminar details.

PHRF B DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM | |
Doyle Chesapeake Sailmakers
There is a concern that B will begin to falter the way C has in the past 10 years. If folks feel they are part of a class, and see what regattas others are planning to do, might attendance increase? In an effort to build the fleet and draw boats from all over to the major regattas a "Deveopment Program" is being proposed.
The Plan is to hold a PHRF B meeting with an Agenda to include: 1. Rules Session with a local rules expert 2. Managing the Race - thinking outside the boat - with a local expert 3. Recruiting and maintaining crew 4. Rig Tune and maintenance - with Chesapeake Rigging 5. Winterizing (sales, gear) and Spring prep
Email David Coleman at catchcircus@circussyndicate.com if you are a PHRF B boat owner who is interested in attending or has more ideas for topics of discussion. |
