Don Luciano Mutumbajoy is a Shaman (medicine man) of the Ingano tribe in the northwest Amazon. He is one of the foremost Amazonian indigenous leaders in the struggle for the preservation and protection of tropical rain-forest culture and medicine. Don Luciano has served as governor of the Inga-Kamtza Indigenous Reserve and now presides over the Operations Committee of the Union of Yagé Healers of the Colombian Amazon (UMIYAC), a union of 40 of the most traditional and powerful shamans from six different tribes of the northwest Amazon. In 2002, he received a conservation knighthood from the late Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands in recognition of his conservation achievements.
He is an ayahuasca master, employing this so-called "Vine of the Soul" as a sacrament in his healing ceremonies. He descends from a long line of Shamans on his father's side of the family. When he was recently asked why anyone should see a Shaman when there are physicians available, he replied, "If you have an infection, see a doctor. However, many human ailments are afflictions of the heart, mind, and spirit. Western medicine has trouble with those illnesses, but we cure them."
Don Luciano is not only renowned for his healing prowess, he is a conservation leader as well. Though the efforts of UMIYAC - "the Union of Ayahuasca Healers" - two new protected rainforest areas have been created to protect both medicinal plants and sacred sites.
In this wide-ranging discussion on healing, shamanism, ayahuasca, and conservation, Don Luciano will be introduced by renowned ethnobotanist Dr. Mark Plotkin and prominent environmentalist Liliana Madrigal, both of the Amazon Conservation Team.

The Secrets of the Primordial Earth are Still Here
A number of friends have gone off to the Amazon in search of an answer to heal their ailing bodies that have failed them here... where we supposedly have the most advanced medical system in the world. This is sort of a medical oxymoron.
When I graduated from chiropractic college I decided that I wanted to get really in touch with the essence of healing. I was planning to find a shaman I could study with. As things turned out I didn't do that, I fell for my wife, had children, and so on. But, way in my mind that thought has continued to live.
Funny how things turn out though. Lama Dawa somehow knew I have a soft spot for shamans and proposed that we have this event. I guess a desire I've had for 33 years is now to materialize and come to me! And he is one of the best and noted Amazonian shaman of our current time period.
Come and share in this event, there are only a few seats available as a number of the seats are spoken for to people who have been waiting for his visit to the west coast.
He will be sharing some secrets of our Earth and the importance of preserving the little of the primordial Earth that is left.
