         Valentines Day & The Chakras

Charkras 18th Century PaintingBeing a male energy and living in the Power Chakra, has put me in the category of finding a meaningful gift quickly at the last moment. OK, not every male energy is this way but as a guess 80%+ the reason for going shopping at all is knowing how upset your partner will be on Valentines day (or any other special occasion) if you don't do something meaningful. There is nothing as lonely as the cold shoulder from your mate; but a memorable gesture in the form of a personal card or item of meaning brings boundless rewards. Female energies generally don't need to worry about this, as it's natural for someone who lives in the Heart Chakra to be a giver.

Let us investigate the difference in spiritual anatomy between male and female energy. The Chakra related to love is the Heart Chakra and is the ruling force in most female energy and is one Chakra higher than the Power Chakra which is the ruling power in most male energy (that's why a male will generally never win with a female energy- if you are a male learn the following two words and use them frequently and your life will be much easier "Yes Dear")

Heart Chakra

(WOMEN (Anahata Heart Chakra 4th chakra up) is located in the chest and is symbolized by a lotus flower with twelve petals. It is related to a neurological ganglia that's connected to the Thymus gland. The Heart Chakra is related to the colors green or pink. Key issues involving Heart Chakra involve complex emotions, compassion, tenderness, unconditional love, equilibrium, rejection and well-being. Physically Heart Chakra governs circulation, emotionally it governs unconditional love for the self and others, mentally it governs passion, and spiritually it governs devotion.
 Power Chakra
MEN (Manipura  Power Chakra 3rd chakra up) is located in the solar plexus and is related to the metabolic and digestive systems as well as the adrenal glands by a neurolgical ganglia. These play a valuable role in digestion, the conversion of food matter into energy for the body. Symbolized by a lotus with ten petals. The color that corresponds to the Power Chakra is yellow. Key issues governed by the Power Chakra are issues of personal power, fear, anxiety, opinion-formation, introversion, and transition from simple or base emotions to complex. Physically, the Power Chakra governs digestion, mentally it governs personal power, emotionally it governs expansiveness, and spiritually, all matters of growth.

As you can see male and female energy generally operates from very different places and bridging that divide fills libraries with books and theaters with movie goers and leads to endless discussions with friends and your partner.

Understanding this general spiritual difference will help both people in a relationship on their way to spiritual growth- understand it and it becomes a stepping stone instead of a stumbling block.

In future newsletters we will discuss all of the chakras and their proper utilization to move us forward to our spiritual centers.

The origin of Valentine's Day finds it origin in the Roman festival of romance called Lupercalia, when the gods Juno and Pan were honored. It was a fertility festival or a lover's holiday looking forward to the return of Spring. In the fifth century, in an attempt to abolish the pagan festival, Pope Gelasius changed Lupercalia and its February 15 date to February 14 and called it Saint Valentine's Day. Even though the names and the date were changed, the emphasis continued to be on love.

The real St. Valentine was a Roman Christian who, according to tradition, was martyred during the persecution of Christians in the third century by Emperor Claudius II. Just before being led out to his execution, the young Christian wrote a note to his jailer's daughter who he is credited with restoring her sight, signing it, "From your Valentine."

Leigh Ann

Sound Healing Circle
Teaching at
The Sacred Space
February 24th & 25th

Leigh Ann Phillips is an award-winning singer songwriter, sound healing practitioner, lecturer, and teacher. She is on a mission to merge sound and music to assist people in leading more fulfilling lives in healthier bodies. Her work takes her all over the world and back again - to her nest in the San Luis Valley of south central Colorado.

Leigh Ann has developed a method of shifting and slowing the brain states, allowing people to not just relax but release emotional blocks that are allowing dis-ease in the body. Her method incorporates the crystal singing bowls, harp, tingshaws, tuning forks, herbal medicine, piano and her voice. She also uses the crystal bowls as percussion instruments, allowing the vibration of sound to run even deeper throughout the body. The sound and the music have merged, and Leigh Ann's passion for life has sounded into a path where music can bring not just beauty, but health, peace and promise.

Rose and Jack had heard of Leigh Ann and her work and were intrigued by it; amazingly just like Gayle Atherton she walked into The Sacred Space with her singing bowls to give us treatments. How this happened is beyond her and us.
Aqua 2

Her treatment consisted of placing crystal singing bowls on our bodies and playing them.  I thought so what! this looks like a lot of hocus pocus to me.

To my chagrin it is really incredible hocus pocus because the purity of the resonating sounds of these bowls which are made from melted gemstones (Citrine, Quartz, Amethyst) does not go thru your ears but a harmonic vibration sets up that causes bone conduction throughout your entire body and you experience some sort of thought brain disconnect and a mind body connect.

This is an incredible experience at the very least.

Sound Healing Concert

Valentines Day & Chinese NewYear are BOTH on February 14th

This won't happen again for over 100 Years!  People born in 1902, 1914, 1926 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, or  2010   Are Tigers

Tiger

THE YEAR OF THE TIGER

Tigers do not find worth in power or money. They will be completely honest about how they feel and expect the same of you. On the other hand, they seek approval from peers and family. Generally, because of their charming personalities Tigers are well liked. Often, failing at a given task or being unproductive in his personal or professional life can cause a Tiger to experience a depression. Criticism from loved ones can also generate this type of Tiger reaction. Still, like all felines, Tigers always land on their feet, ready for their next act in life, pursuing it with unyielding energy and hunting it infallibly.

We have a limited number of Year of The Tiger necklaces this is a double whammy thoughtful item for this Valentines day.

Shanhong Lu, MD

Shanhong Lu MD, PhD
How to live ageless and beautiful from inside out

Speaking at
The Sacred Space
Sunday March 7, 2010   4PM

Having been a full time practicing Chiropractor for over 20 years I'm very excited to introduce Dr. Lu to our community.  She works within a paradigm that is synchronous with my personal outlook on healing.

Her philosophical base deals with healing people from the inside out with careful diagnosis and evaluation of the metabolic systems. Then utilizing diet, exercise, nutritional supplementation, and hormonal balancing she nudges the person gently into truly functional metabolism and clear state of mind. Use of drugs to cover up symptoms or destroy infections without the boosting of the persons immune system is not her cup of tea.

She came to shop at The Sacred Space and we connected in such a way that she is my choice for a personal physician.  Her center is at Mount Shasta but I'm willing to carry on a long distance health relationship. I believe she is a very special doctor with true insight and spiritual integrity.

Growing up in Beijing, China with aspirations to become a ballerina, artist, or concert pianist, Dr. Shanhong Lu reluctantly realized that medicine was in her genes. Her grandmother, a traditional Chinese healer, and her mother, a world-renown female cardiologist, provided her with deep insight into their respective fields and philosophies. As a result of this influence, she instinctively blends eastern and western approaches towards healing.

She completed her MD at Beijing Medical University, becoming a third-generation physician.  Having been exposed throughout her life to both traditional Chinese as well as western medicine, Dr. Lu never released her belief in holistic and spiritual healing throughout years of research in human physiology and hypertension.

After completing her PhD, she chose to pursue patient treatment rather than research, recognizing the value of connecting directly with human beings.

Dr. Lu is a board certified internist and an integrative medical doctor with 9 years experience in private practice and integrative medicine.  She is an avid long distance cyclist, traveler, and Nordic skier.  She embraces all paths of healing and rejuvenation with a passion for improving quality of life and proactive approaches toward aging.

MD from Beijing Medical University
Board Certified in Internal Medicine
Board Certified, American Board of Antiaging and Regenerative Medicine Member of American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine
9 years in private practice with Integrative and Anti-aging Therapies
PhD (Human Physiology and Hypertension Research) from Medical College of Wisconsin
Postdoctoral Research Fellow from UCSF (Genetics and Hypertension)
Published author in Hypertension Research

We are truly privileged to have her at The Sacred Space.  She will help you make changes that may lead you to a healthful path in your lifestyle.

Cost for this lecture is $18. All seats must be prepaid.

Dr. Peter Gaal

Dr. Peter Gaal, MD

Dr. Gall sent me his CV, below, and I must say he is most humble. He is totally present and has much to say from his unique perspective and will give you insights into medicine and philosophy that only a surgeon who has been on a personal path of growth, and a connection with the cosmos, could give. This is a one time from the heart talk which we are very honored to be able to present.
After graduating from medical school with honors at the University of Chicago, Dr. Gaal served an internship at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco.  This was followed by two years of service as a flight surgeon in the Navy.  A five year residency at UCLA followed after which he remained an additional three years as a member of the full time faculty.  He then entered private practice in Santa Monica where he practiced for eighteen years while continuing his affiliation with the teaching program at UCLA.  In 1982 he joined a colleague in the specialty of cardiovascular surgery in Ventura. He continued to operate until the end of last year.  He continues work as an administrator at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura.

Although board certified in both general and thoracic surgery his interests gradually centered on the development of cardiac surgery.  During residency he helped construct the heart - lung machine used at UCLA for several years.  He was a pioneer in the the field of coronary bypass surgery.  More recently he has been peripherally involved with issues relating to mechanical devices designed to augment cardiac function and heart transplantation.

Dr. Gaal will present an overview of modern medicine, how we arrived where we are from a historical and scientific point of view, current trends in the delivery of medical services and the implications of recent legislative actions.
