December 21, 2009
The Winter Solstice occurs exactly when the earth's axial tilt is farthest away from the sun at its maximum of 23 26'. Though the Winter Solstice lasts an instant in time, the term is also colloquially used like Midwinter to refer to the day on which it occurs. For most people in the high latitudes, this is commonly known as the shortest day and the sun's daily maximum position in the sky is the lowest. And that is Monday! Take a good look at the sun's position at sundown-that's the furthest south it will be for another year.

The 17 Syllable Haiku
The 17 syllable Haiku was the revival of poetry in Japan. Following are Haikus to mark the end of 2009 and inspire a renewal for 2010. Each line is a separate poem!
As our bonfire burns the old year into ashes a new year arises
And we begin to dance anew filled with starry hope
New Year beginning to share with a genuine voice of my choosing
Renewal Regeneration Rebirth ... Happy New Year
Sincerely,
The Sacred Space

Inspiration in 2010
Purpose
The coming new year is a turning point. We will renew and again find the thread that ties us together as the great nation of people that we are. Our buying habits and introspective interpersonal trends, supported by major research studies have confirmed the following:
We as a nation are in search of our meaning and purpose on this small planet circling our middle aged, rather undistinguished star the Sun, which is located in the suburbs of the galaxy we call the Milky Way, about 30 million light years from its center, and one of the 200 billion stars in this galaxy! Our galaxy is one of an estimated 500 billion galaxies. Please show me the way!
Our buying habits are changing from consumerism to inspirational-ism. Our cabinet will not just hold things but will be a work of art too. A paperweight will now have an inspiration etched into it. No longer is it the brand to show how much it costs but it is the reminder message to awaken and inspire that the item possesses. No longer is it just a party, the parties that we attend are those that inspire to help this world.
This year, become rich with the inner wealth of wisdom and compassion.
