Happy New Year Einstein Families!
I hope you all enjoyed some rest and relaxation with your families. I am very excited for the second half of this school year. As a staff, we have been highly engaged in the work of our Three Year Strategic Plan. To date, we are on target to complete each component of the plan on schedule. This is most exciting as we anticipate the work to yield increases in student achievement at each grade level.
One of the ways I will communicate our progress in this new year is by blogging. At the end of the month you will find my "Principal's Blog" in the "About Us" section of our Einstein site. We are the first school to attempt this in the district so there may be kinks to work out as we begin, but I am excited at the opportunity to dialog with the community about the great work that is happening here. The blog will be linked to the Einstein PTSA Facebook page so as I post blogs, the PTSA Facebook page will communicate to "friends" that a new post is available. My goal is to post something once a week. I hope you find the information helpful.
Have a great week!
Melissa Pointer
Principal

Student Management Contracts
| |
One child from every family brought home a copy of the student handbook in late September. Please check to see that you fulfilled the district requirement by signing and returning the Student Management Contract located in the back of the hand book.
If you need another copy, you can print out this one or call the office at 425-936-2540 and we will send a hard copy home with your child.

Superintendent Update: Preferred Candidate Named
| |
At the December 5 meeting, the Board of Directors of the Lake Washington School District unanimously voted to put forward Dr. Traci Pierce, the district's deputy superintendent, as its preferred candidate for superintendent. The board will introduce Dr. Pierce to the community through a series of public events and will ask for input on her candidacy.
A calendar of events and timing for a final vote on hiring will be determined after the holidays. The first meeting with the preferred candidate has been scheduled for Tuesday, January 10, more details can be found here. The successful candidate will replace the departing Dr. Chip Kimball, who becomes superintendent of the Singapore American School on July 1. Read more here.

Thank You to All the Make & Take Volunteers | |
Our Make and Take Craft event on December 12 was a huge success again this year! We just couldn't do it without the wonderful support from the volunteers at Overlake Christian Church, the organizational skills and drive of Laura D'Urso, and all our amazing parent volunteers.
Thank you for all you do for Einstein!!
