 Principal's Message |
|

Hello Einstein Families,
Congratulations to our Kindergarten students on the wonderful winter program last week! They sang their little hearts out! Thank you to the Kindergarten team: Mary Locke, Laura Russell, Jessica Strazzula, and Emily Moulton, on a fantastic show!
We hope you'll join us this Thursday at 2:45pm for our Winter Choir concert. Mrs. Seong and her amazing Choir have been working hard to prepare.
Last week our student body participated in a practice assembly so I know they are ready to show you what an incredibly respectful audience they can be. You could hear a pin drop in the practice event. It was impressive.
I hope you enjoy your winter break. I look forward to seeing you all in 2012!!
Melissa Pointer
Principal

Specialist Update: Music | |
The music room has been filled with great rhythms and melodies of patriotic songs performed by all grade levels.
Kindergartners have been studying steady beat and rhythm. We had voice exploration time using our speaking, whispering, shouting, and singing voices. First and Second Graders reviewed beat/rhythm and focused on ta, ti-ti, and quarter rests. We practiced annotating poems using these three symbols. Many musical games were played to enhance solo singing. Third and Fourth Graders focused on the half note, dotted half note, whole note, and various rests. We used poems and transferred the words into musical notes. Meters in 2 and 3 were reviewed through listening examples. Fifth Graders reviewed meter signatures such as 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4. We dictated notes using the 5th grade rhythms. Sixth Graders have been learning the 6/8 time signature through singing and notation. The 6th grade music symbols were reviewed and practiced. Grades 3-6 also learned about American Composer, John Phillip Sousa.
The choir premiered at the Veteran's Day Assembly on November 10. Now we are busy getting ready for our Winter Concert on Thursday, December 15, with 45 enthusiastic members from the 3rd-6th grade excited to perform.
