Principal's Message |
|
Hello families,
As you know, we take student safety very seriously at Einstein Elementary. In the event that we have a natural disaster or other emergency, we have a set of procedures that we've put in place to keep everyone safe and accounted for. We practice the procedures we will follow in the event of an earthquake and what to do when the fire alarm goes off. We also practice the procedures to keep your children safe in the event of a lockdown and how to shelter in place if the environment outside becomes unsafe. This week we are sending home a letter that outlines our procedures for releasing students in the event of an emergency. Please take a moment to read and understand that information.
On a lighter note, Math Night is this Thursday!! We have some really exciting games for the students to play that will reinforce the concepts they are learning in math. There will also be fun prizes and ice cream at the end. We hope you can make it! This was one of our most well attended events last year!
And now a few thank yous from last week. First, a big thank you to all the parents and PTSA for providing an incredible feast for the teachers last Thursday. It was so fun to get to taste things from cultures around the world; we could not believe the variety of the bountiful foods. Thank you as well to Julie Bruntz and Denisa Farago for organizing this lovely event. We are spoiled by all of you and we are very grateful!
Also, thank you to Mrs. Seong, our Einstein Choir, and Boy Scouts Pack 557 for a very meaningful Veterans Day Assembly last Thursday.
Enjoy your week!
Melissa Pointer

Specialist Update: Library
The Einstein Library is the 2nd "Happiest Place on Earth" (although it is debatable if Disneyland can claim to be the Happiest). During class library time, the students fill the room with enthusiasm and curiosity. At recess, students are busy earning "Free Rice" to help hungry children in the world. Our students are the best because I can make just about any suggestion and they are willing to risk a try.
5th and 6th graders are using Destiny to locate their books in the library; they have put a lot of time into exploring the district data bases and deciding when it is a good time to look there first for information. The 4th graders have authored an "ABC of Einstein" book that is a heartwarming view of our school. 3rd graders have made great strides in learning about PebbleGo and locating information in encyclopedias. 2nd graders have explored other cultures through literature and 1st graders have learned some amazing animal facts from true life stories of animal behavior. Kindergarteners have done an amazing job of learning the library system and checking out and returning their books.
Can you think of a better way to spend your days? I can't and I am grateful to all of you for sharing your children with me every day. Einstein Otters will change the world!

Free Event: Family Math Night is This Thursday
Remember to join us for Einstein's Family Math Night, this Thursday from 6:00 - 7:30pm. Learn how to play new games to reinforce your child's math skills at home.
Games are an important strategy in the learning process. They help students focus, give extra drill to reinforce concepts, and provide an opportunity for children to learn problem-solving strategies in a fun and exciting way.
This will be a fun night with door prizes, ice cream, and estimation jar winners. We hope to see you there!

The District Reflections reception will be January 6 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the LWSD Resource Center at Redmond Town Center. Everyone is invited!
A big thank you to the Reflections committee: Laura D'Urso, Shima Bhamra, and Elena Zimmerman; for all of their work.
