PrincipalPrincipal's Message

Ms. Pointer

 Hello Einstein Families,

As I mentioned last week, our parking lot is very busy this year. One of the things I have learned from many families driving this year is that they are doing so because the buses had been arriving at school so late in the morning. Our district transportation department has made many route revisions this fall to ensure more timely arrivals to school. If you are driving this year for this reason, I encourage you to give the buses another try. If you wouldn't mind allowing your child to ride the bus again for a week and then share feedback with me on how you think it went, I would love to pass that information along to transportation so we can continue to improve arrival times. I can assure you that if, for some reason your student arrives late, they will not be held accountable for that.

On another note, we will be hosting Halloween parties in classrooms next Monday, October 31. There are a few guidelines we'd like you to follow regarding costumes if you choose to send one for your child to wear:

  • Please do not send your student to school in costume in the morning. They need to bring their costumes and put them on right before the party in the afternoon.
  • Please do not allow your children to wear scary costumes.
  • We cannot permit play weapons of any kind, even the ones that come with the costumes.
  • Students will be putting their costumes on by themselves, so please choose one that is not complicated (not one with multiple pieces or detached parts).
  • If you as a parent or guardian choose to attend the class party, please follow the same guidelines listed above for your costume.
  • Parents attending parties on Monday can park on the playground but please do not park in the fire lanes. You may enter the playground through the southwest gate near the gym; however all cars must be moved by 3:30 for dismissal.

We are looking forward to an exciting day!!

CurriculumSpecialist Update: PE

In PE we've been going over different games the kids can do during recess. We did team-building and cooperative games to learn how to work together in our classrooms as well as in PE. This week is the special dance week with Thursday night, 10/27, being our Family Dance Night. At the dance parents and students can dance together and the students can show their parents what they've learned all week. Our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders will be learning the Michael Jackson's Thriller dance taught by a very special instructor, Teresa Osborne.

Saturday 10/29, from 4:00-7:30 there will be activities at Redmond Town Center and some of Einstein's students will be dancing at the Thrill The World Event. It's an annual worldwide simultaneous dance of "Thriller" for world records and a charity event that raises money for The Second Story Conservatory.  You can pre-register online at www.RedmondZombies.com to dance for the world record, the cost is $10. There will be Zombie make-up stations, and pictures with Zombies. Unfortunately I won't be able to be there as I have an All Hallows Eve Masquerade wedding to attend.

SoccerSoccer Gear Donations to One League for Everyone

Dear Einstein families!

We have an amazing opportunity to give back to the Einstein community.

Bring your used or new gear--cleats, shin guards, shorts, soccer socks, t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.--to school to donate to the OLE program. One League for Everyone (OLE) helps families and players in need by minimizing the cost of uniforms, sweatshirts, tournament fees, snacks and trophies, which are all important parts of the youth soccer experience in our community! Many of the students at Einstein are on OLE teams. Everyone can donate and many of our students will benefit from this donation.

Bring donations to room 211 by Friday, October 28th. Questions? Contact Ms. Benzel at jbenzel@lwsd.org.
