PrincipalPrincipal's Message

Ms. Pointer

Happy Monday Einstein Families!

It was a pleasure getting to meet some of you last week at Primary Curriculum Night! If you have students in grades 3-6, we hope you will join us this Thursday for our Intermediate Curriculum Night. During the first 15 minutes of the Intermediate Curriculum Night, I will be sharing the same information I covered at Primary Curriculum Night; so you can plan on arriving at 7:15 pm rather than 7:00 pm if you are not interested in hearing the same school overview information.

On another note, I am happy to share that MSP results will begin coming home via kid mail in the next week. If you do not have a copy of your student's individual score report by September 30, please email Bobbie Jo Connors at bconnors@lwsd.org. The State Testing 2012 overview is an explanation of the state assessment system for your reference. If you have MSP related questions and are not able to find the answer in the overview or on the state assessment site at http://www.k12.wa.us/assessment/statetesting/MSP.aspx, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Have a great week!

Melissa Pointer

CurriculumCurriculum Update: Music News from Mrs. Seong

This year all the young musicians at Einstein will have many varied musical experiences in their music class time. Every student has music for two 30-minute sessions a week. Understanding patterns of rhythm, melody, and harmony will be explored along with lessons on various composers, cultures, and music styles. Some other units of study will be basic theory, improvisation, composition, drumming, and folk dance.

Choir is scheduled to have the very first rehearsal on Thursday, September 22. Choir is offered to all of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students, if they like to sing, are willing to make a commitment to come to rehearsals regularly, and attend performances and field trips. Rehearsals will be held once a week on Thursday mornings before school from 8:00 to 8:45.

The music room is an exciting place to be. We will be exploring Orff instruments, ukuleles, recorders, drums, boomwackers, and other non-pitched instruments.

Thanks for sharing your musicians' talents with our school!

PassTheHatLast week for Pass the Hat: September 6 - 23

Hello again Otter Parents!

We have had an amazing two weeks for our Pass The Hat campaign. However, we are still short of our $16,500 goal (current fundraising totals can be seen on the Einstein PTSA site). In the final week of our campaign, we are asking for your continued support to help fund these wonderful programs for our children such as Art Enrichment Program, International Night, and many more. Please do not forget about corporate matching, which may DOUBLE your gift making it go even further.
