PrincipalPrincipal's Message

Ms. PointerHello Einstein Families,

Last week was an AMAZING week! Not only did we have a smooth start to classes with kids are already busy learning important content, but we also had FUN!

Thursday morning, we held our ribbon cutting ceremony for our new playground structure. The Redmond Reporter and Redmond Patch were there to document this exciting event (story links can also be found on the Einstein site). During the ceremony we took the time to remind the students how funds were raised for the project and we discussed how to play safely on the new structure. As I began to share that last year's Student Council Officers would be cutting the ribbon, the entire student body started chanting, "Cut it, cut it, cut it!" They were SO excited!

Later that evening, many families came to McTeacher Night at McDonald's on Redmond Way to support our fundraising event. Kids, parents, and staff had a blast! We thank you all so much for your support.

I hope the weekend provided time for your children to get lots of rest and recuperate from this exciting first week of school! I'll see you all at curriculum night (details in the Important Dates list on the left)!

** SCHOOL NEWS **

CurriculumCurriculum Update: 6th Grade

We are thrilled to be looping up from 5th grade to continue working with our fantastic group of students for their final year before they head off to junior high. The advantage of knowing the students has enabled us to hit the ground running with the curriculum this first week of school.

Our Student Ambassadors are natural leaders, with generous hearts. A large number of sixth graders gave up their entire lunch recess this past week in order to help young kindergarteners adapt to the unfamiliar lunchroom routines.

Our sixth graders' service also extends beyond the school. In a few weeks we will kick off our annual C-Wing Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign. Each year the students collect about a $1,000 for this community service project. Small change makes a huge difference in the lives of children around the world.

Sunny wishes,
Karen Ollerenshaw & Karl Olson
The Sixth Grade Team

NoDogsOnCampusReminder: Dogs Are Not Allowed on Campus

As a reminder, district policy prohibits dogs on campus. The policy explains, "Dogs are not allowed in the school or classroom unless they are serving as a bona-fide service dog to a staff member, parent, child or visitor. In such cases, an up-to-date vaccination record must be provided for the animal." This includes dogs that are in handbags or being carried by their owner.

Thank you for your cooperation in following this important district policy.

ParkingLet's Keep our Kids Safe at Drop-Off and in the Parking Lot

Drop-off and Parking Lot Reminders:

  • There is no supervision for students prior to 8:40 AM. Please do not drop-off your children of earlier than that.
  • Carpools (3 Einstein students or more) are the only vehicles allowed in the cul-de-sac during afterschool pick-up. Parents interested in using this loop must obtain a carpool pass from the Einstein office. When using this portion of the parking lot, parents need to stay with their car at all times and pull ahead as far as possible. The cul-de-sac is not open for before school drop-off.
  • Cell phone use is NOT permitted while driving, even in the school parking lot.

Thank you for keeping our kids safe!
