Hello Einstein Families,
There are many exciting things happening in these last two weeks of school! Next Thursday, Ms. Plate and the 6th graders will be hosting Field Day for the Kindergarten through 5th grade students! There will be many exciting field stations some of which will be modeled after the "Minute to Win it" show! The 6th grade students will have their own special Field Day with a pizza party for their efforts. Later in the day on Thursday, the school will be hosting our all school BBQ. All family members are welcome to join us! Food services will begin at 11:30am. Grade levels will be released to eat in 5 minute increments starting with 6th grade. Adult meals can be purchased for $3.00. We hope you can join us!
Most class parties will be held on Monday the 20th, which is also the same day we will be holding our 6th grade Promotion celebration. Promotion begins at 2:15 p.m. It is a very exciting and special day for our soon to be 7th graders!!
I am looking forward to sharing these last couple of weeks with you and your students!
Enjoy your weekend! Melissa Pointer, Principal

Book Rodeo Continues June 13-17
Book Rodeo is next week and all students are welcome to participate. During library class time, books collected last week are up for sale, 25¢ per book. There is always a huge selection, so bring your quarters to get some books for summer reading!

Curriculum Update: Fifth Grade
The past few weeks our fifth graders have been working with a partner to create PhotoStory presentations of Northwest Endangered Animals. PhotoStory software incorporates visuals, captions, recorded voices, and music. This technology is easy to use and results in engaging projects.
A bit of rebellion awaits. Next Friday we will wrap up our Discovery Simulation of early American colonial history with a reader's theatre performance of The Boston Tea Party. We are looking forward to putting on this production for our families.

LWSF helps Einstein Students with Summer Reading
Thank you to the Lake Washington Schools Foundation for awarding us a grant to support summer reading. We have been able to purchase over 100 books to bring to Einstein Students this summer. Mrs. Sandbo and Mrs. Moulton will schedule a time to come to Avon Villa and Avondale Park one day a week through summer for students to participate in our Summer Reading Program and check out books to keep for a week. Watch for more information that will follow.
To learn more about the LWSF and how you can help, check out the June Ambassador's message and their Web site. |
"End Summer Hunger" Thanks You
End Summer Hunger was a great success! Einstein's community earned $1,145.36 for Hopelink's Redmond Food Bank. Thank you to Mrs. Crane and all who participated for making a difference this summer!

Walk-A-Thon! Don't forget corporate matching!
Thanks to everyone for helping raise over $8,500 in donations for a new play area! If you pledged to have your employer match your donation, please don't forget to follow-up with your employer to make that happen. Links for corporate matching for many local companies, including Microsoft, can be found at: http://einsteinptsa.org/corporatematching.aspx. It's quick and easy, and increases the power of your donation!
