Principal's Message

Hello Einstein Families,

Wow, what an exciting week we've had!!

The 6th graders had an amazing time at the Pacific Science Center!! The "camp-in" was quite an adventure. Imagine having full access to all of the Science Center exhibits until close to midnight and then first thing in the morning! It was a lot of fun and the kids were really well behaved. Thank you so much to the chaperones that made it all possible: Mrs. King, Mr. Benson, Mrs. Crane, Mrs. Danielson, and two amazing parent volunteers.

Thursday afternoon we had our Walk-A-Thon and the sun even came out for us! The kids had a great time running, walking, and dancing around the course! The event raised over $8500 including pledged donation matching. We can't possibly thank everyone enough for the generous donations! The funds will be used to purchase a playground structure in the northeast corner of the playground. The HUGE smiles you will see on the faces of your kids will help you understand how meaningful this is for us. Parent Kari Haegele deserves a gigantic THANK YOU for all of her effort in planning and facilitating this truly successful event. Thank you as well to her fantastic committee: Ingrid Munck, Alissa MacDonald, Stephanie Vassigh, and Tracey Gauthier. We'd also like to thank Jenny Benzel, Rana Shafi, Mary Goodwin, Margie Segress and all the parent and staff volunteers for their help. Finally we'd like to thank the following companies for their generous donations of prizes for the kids: Arena Sports, Learning Quest Toys, Tree Top Toys, Pop Chips, Skate King, Pharmaca, Pump It Up, Footzone, Trader Joe's, Starbucks, Kimmel Athletic Supply, Redmond Pool, Soccer West, Emerald City Gymnastics, Redmond Work and Western Wear, Pacific Science Center, and Z Ultimate Self Defense.

After all of the fun this week, I am sure the kids will be ready for some rest and relaxation!

Enjoy your weekend!
Melissa Pointer, Principal

** SCHOOL NEWS **

RodeoReminder: Book Rodeo is coming... Are you ready?

Reminder: Your time to prep for the kids' summer reading starts next week.

Here's how it works--Einstein will collect books June 6 - 10. For every 4 books you donate, your student will receive a Book Buck. Students who have Book Bucks will be able to come to the library on the afternoon of Friday, June 10, to purchase books. Then, June 13 - 17, the Book Rodeo will run for all other students to purchase books for 25¢ each. Look through your book collection for books to pass on.

Curriculum Update: Third Grade

We just published class books that will be delivered the last week of school. Students had a lot of fun drawing illustrations and writing a final published piece. We are finishing the school year by writing narratives. The final writing assessment will be given next week.

Third graders have been busy traveling back in time and learning about the Titanic. Students are busy writing non-fiction summaries for the Titanic book projects. They use facts they have learned from the book to include in their summaries.

Our upcoming field trip is June 9th we are going to the Museum of Flight. We have nature vision coming to third grade early next week. Students will get to learn about skeletons and skulls through hands on activities. The last week of school all third graders will get to build and launch rockets to send them off to fourth grade. The month of June will be filled with fun and exciting activities!
