Principal's Message

Hello Einstein Families,

I just wanted to thank all of you that were able to come to Bingo Night last week! We were very pleased with the turn out given there were snow days for two days prior to the event! I also want to thank parents Deva Demeter, Shannon Fabien, Rana Shafi, and Laura D'Urso for all of their help in making the event a success.

Have a great weekend!

Melissa Pointer, Principal

The Kids Hit the Ground Running Today

Running Club made its debut today! All were welcome to participate. During lunch recess a course was laid out and students received a stamp for every lap completed. At the end of the run they were given a ticket per lap for the chance to win a wonderful prize (the drawing was held at the end of the day). This was a fun way to get students moving at recess - ask your child to tell you all about it.

Pot of Gold Coin Drive to Honor Ms. Sandbo: Mar 7-11

Mrs. Sandbo's birthday is in March and Student Council decided to do something to honor Mrs. Sandbo for all the amazing work she does with students, teachers and the Einstein community. Student Council decided to do a Pot of Gold coin drive that will run from March 7-11, with all the money collected going toward the purchase of two large planters and plants to beautify the entrance to our school. Any excess funds will be donated to Hopelink in Mrs. Sandbo's name. Please send donations with your student next week and thank you for your support!

News from our 5th Grade Teachers

                          Mayor Suess

On Wednesday, in honor of Read Across America Day, Redmond's very own Mayor Marchione spent the morning fielding questions and sharing Green Eggs and Ham with both fifth grade classes.  The Mayor, a gifted storyteller, bedazzled the students with his lively read aloud version of this classic Seuss favorite.

For this second semester, the fifth grade team is piloting the usage of 32 Dell netbook computers in our classrooms.  We've integrated their use into our math, science, language arts, and social studies curriculum on a daily basis.  The students skillfully maneuver a touchpad in place of a mouse and the smaller keyboard offers a more comfortable fit for their young hands.

Next year the district plans on rolling out similar sets of netbooks to all grade levels here at Einstein.  To help some of the younger students get comfortable with the new technology, our 5th graders have been showing their Little Buddies in Mrs. Stonich's first grade and Mrs. Wartenbe's second grade how to use the netbooks.  This week they enjoyed playing Seussville.com games together.

Sunny wishes,
Karen Ollerenshaw & Karl Olson
