Principal's Message

Hello Einstein Families,

What an exciting week we've had! Snow days are often such memorable days in a child's life. I hope you and your kids were able to enjoy the snow!

I wanted to take the opportunity to advertise the next LWSD PTSA parent education event. This Saturday, the 26th, Dr. Chris McCurry will be presenting on Roadblocks to Achievement.  The presentation will focus on organization and the misorganized child. Dr. McCurry is a clinical assistant professor in the departments of psychology and psychiatry at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He specializes in the assessment and treatment of children who are experiencing behavioral and emotional problems including anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorder, organization difficulties and underachievement in school, social deficits and differences; and defiant & explosive behavior in children. Details can be found at the link below.

Have a great weekend!

** SCHOOL NEWS **

LWSD Levy Passed!

Community voters pass the Feb 2011 measure with almost 60% 'Yes' support. This will help address overcrowding issues with additions to Eastlake High School and Redmond High School, and a new STEM high school. Thank you for the voters support!

More information can be found in the link here.

What wonderful time we have at Library hours!

If you want your children to be bright, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be brilliant read them even more fairy tales. ...Albert Einstein

This quote is a wonderful reminder to us to spend time reading with our children. If you have a favorite book from your childhood, that would be a very special experience to share with them. We continue to encourage students to check out books that interest and challenge them. During library class I am doing that with book talks and library class activities that encourage them to pick a book and explore it. When one class was completing the "You Can't Judge a Book by its Cover" activity, 6 of the students checked out the book they had chosen to explore for the assignment.

I have been able to purchase many, many books the students have requested with a generous gift from Redmond Elementary. They received a grant from Target that allowed them to purchase 500 books. When they were awarded that, they decided to share their good fortune with us and gave us $1000 to spend for the library.  We appreciate their generosity and know how fortunate we are to have support like that from our colleagues in the district. I also know how fortunate I am to work with your children and appreciate the experience they bring to me each day.

Congratulations to Einstein Green Pandas

Each year Einstein readers have a great few weeks running battles and joining together to read for fun. This year, our 5th grade girls represented Einstein at the district level Battle of the Books on February 14. They have done a fabulous job this year!
