Dear Parents,
On October 21, 22 and 25th we will be holding goal setting conferences with parents for the first time in many years. When Einstein Elementary first opened it was a pioneer in goal setting conferences with students and parents. So once again Einstein will be using a goal setting format with parent conferences. Students and their teachers will be setting two academic and one life skill/personal goal. Setting goals as students or adults significantly increases the probability of an individual reaching their goal. At the conference, students will share their goals with their parents, talk about strategies to reach their goals and how they will know if they have met their goals. I encourage all of you to attend the student conferences and once you know what your student is working toward find ways in which you can support that at home.
Modeling is always a great teaching tool. Yearly my husband and I take time to set personal and home goals. Some are short term and some longer term. It provides us a time to focus on what is important to us as a family and where I generate the famous "honey do list". This might be a strategy to try to model goal setting and a way all family members would have a chance to set a family priority for the year.
See you at the conferences.
Thanks,
Karen Bates, Principal

Tips to make a successful Parent Teacher Conference Oct 21, 22, 25 | |

Please make sure you have signed up for this very important meeting to communicate with your child's teacher. This year, we would ask your child to join the conference together to set goals for the year. Translators can be arranged where needed. Here are some tips for parents on how you can make a successful conference:
Ask your child if there is anything that he/she would like you to discuss with the teacher. Jot down everything that you want to talk about at the conference. Arrive promptly. Avoid lengthy discussions of topics that are not related to the purpose of the conference. Be open-minded to suggestions from the teacher. Express appreciation for the conference. Do not stay beyond your allotted time. Send a thank you note, follow up with another meeting if needed.
