Dear Parents,
Today your student(s) will be bringing home two important pieces of information. The first notice will be a letter from me with directions about how to access your child's information via Parent Access. Research shows that students do better when their parents are informed and involved in their education. Parent Access is a Web-based tool to help parents stay informed and engaged with their students' education. Parent Access allows parents to view student information, lunch account balances, and parents are able to fill out a volunteer application. New this year to Parent Access are student grades and assignments which became available on October 4th in the Student Information section. Help and instructions are available on the district home page at www.lwsd.org. Go to the parents tab and under highlights look for the Parent Access - Stay Informed and Involved link to find detailed access information. New users must register to receive a username and password. Click the new user link to follow the instructions or watch the registration video. Also coming home today will be a conference sign up letter. Parent conferences are extremely important to keep parents and teachers working closely together. This year the conference timeline has changed and half day conferences will be held on October 21, 22 and 25. The focus of the conference this year will be goal setting. Students will participate in setting goals for the year with their teacher and they will also participate in the conference. Our goal for conferences this year is 100 % participation. Interpreters will be available for those who might need them.
Thanks,

Vision and Hearing Screening |
Vision and hearing screening will be held on Thursday October 14th in the school library. Please make sure that your child brings their glasses to school that day if they normally wear them. If you have any concerns regarding the screenings for your child please send a note to the office or contact the school nurse.

LWSD program subscription |
The LWSD subscribes to many programs that students can access at home. If students want to practice their keyboarding at home they can use TTL4. To access the other data bases, each of them has a different URL and log in. Go to the district website and click on For Students then choose Research and Homework Help. From there you have many helpful options. To get to the subscription data bases, click on Research Data Bases and choose which you would like to explore. Students need passwords to access them from home, information can be found here or from your school Librarian.
Take some time to explore these with your child. It is a fun, stimulating and safe way to access information from the internet.

Einstein School Librarian

McTeacher's Night - a success! |
The Einstein Community turned out in a big way to support our fundraising. The teachers had a great time seeing their students and learned a lot about how hard it is to get food orders right when there are a lot of people waiting! We made $867.00 to support the kids at Einstein. Thank you to everyone who came to McDonalds. It was a really fun event.
