Mr. Tobin's Weekly Message

Einstein Families and Einstein Staff,

Parent Input Needed - Elementary Math Adoption!
There is still the chance to give your input on the Elementary Math Adoption that is currently underway. This is extremely important work and will impact our elementary school students for the next decade.

There is one more meeting on January 26, 2010 at Frost Elementary School at 7 p.m. For those of you who cannot attend, the materials are available to review at the Resource Center at Redmond Town Center and there is an on-line input form available on the district website. Please take the time to give your input.

Have a great weekend!

Battle of the Books

Einstein is participating this year in the "Battle of the Books"! This program aims at promoting reading literature at Einstein. Thanks to Ms Sandbo, our Einstein Librarian, for organizing this!

Message from Ms Sandbo:
The Einstein 4th, 5th and 6th graders have "Battled" at lunch time for 2 weeks. There were a total of nine teams and they worked their way through double elimination. The sportsmanship was outstanding and it was a most enjoyable time for me. The winning team; The Green Pandas (Hannah Sullivan, Katrina Teo, Elle Demeter and Karley Deegan), will go on to the district online battles during the first week of February. Congratulations to all 36 Einstein Students who participated in the Battle. You all were great to watch and fun to work with. Parents should be proud of the level of motivation and perseverance these students exhibited. They REALLY knew their books!

Spelling Club is HERE!

Einstein Elementary is proud to announce the creation of our first Spelling Club!  The goal of the club is to provide an enrichment opportunity for the 4th, 5th and 6th graders to help improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives.  Official Scripp's National Spelling Bee materials will be used for both fun and challenging activities.  The club will meet every Wednesday for 15 weeks starting February 17th from 11:45 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.  Participation in the Spelling Club is free!  An informational flyer and registration form are linked here.  Space is limited and registration forms are due back by February 5th.  Contact Kari Haegele if you have any questions.
PTSA General Membership Meeting - Jan 28, 7pm

Come join us for our second PTSA General Membership Meeting next Thursday, January 28th in the Einstein Library from 7:00-8:30 pm!

We will spend the first 20 minutes getting to know each other and nibbling on some treats. Then Mayor Marchione will stop by to chat with us about issues important to our community like road construction on 172nd Ave and 166th Ave, the new fire station on 116th, and the North Redmond neighborhood plan. We will also update you on what is to come at Einstein this year.

It will be an informal meeting so bring your questions and a friend! Please click here for more information or contact Michelle Sullivan. We hope to see you there!

Family Events

Thank you to all the families who attended and helped make Math Night a fun and educational event for our students. Ms. Uphus and Mrs. Carlson's classes tied for the highest percentage of students attending math night, making them the winners of the Extra Recess with Mr. Tobin! Congratulations Kindergarteners!

Please mark your calendars for our next event on February 19th -  Einstein's 4th annual Family Bingo Night.  It is guaranteed to be a wonderful evening for the whole family. A variety of exciting Bingo prizes will be awarded.  Be watching for tickets to go on sale.  Discounts will be given to families who purchase tickets in advance!
