Chitwan, Aug 5  - Fifteen-year-old Sainli, a female rhino, gave birth to a male calf at Chitwan National Park (CNP) around 10 days ago. The park currently has eight newborn calves in total. In the past two months, two other female rhinos -- Rosy and Poke -- also gave birth to calves.

internet illegal sales USFWS cracks down on illegal internet sales
Tallahasssee, Aug 5 - The Florida chapter of the US Fish and Wildlife Service has created a new team to combat illegal wildlife trade: the Internet Crimes Unit. The unit is experiencing tremendous success. In the past six months, seven hard-working undercover officers have made 151 arrests and issued 51 warnings through covert Internet operations.
 
Burmese python Six months for largest reptile smuggling in Canada
Niagara, Aug 1 - After smuggling 1,475 turtles and snakes in the panels of his van over the Canadian border, a Niagara-on-the-Lake man was handed a six-month conditional sentence Friday. His stash included 45 tortoises, pythons and boas that are among seven types of endangered species.
