WildAid is the only organization that focuses on
reducing the demand for endangered species products by specifically
targeting consumers with engaging public service announcements and
education initiatives. In the same way multinational corporations
employ celebrities and athletes to promote their products, we enlist
popular Chinese and western celebrities to dissuade consumers from
purchasing products with our "When the buying stops, the killing can
too" message. We produce innovative multimedia campaigns to promote
demand reduction. We secure over $100 million of media sponsorship and
editorial coverage. We reach audiences of 1 billion worldwide with our
messages.

Strike a blow against shark fin soup!
You have a rare opportunity to make a difference. For $100 you can fund a "Say 'no' to shark fin soup" bus stop billboard featuring basketball star Yao Ming. This price
includes production, installation, maintenance, and lighting for a full
year. These ads will be placed in
many high-traffic locations in Beijing and Shanghai.
Last year, WildAid had 200 billboards in Beijing for 3 months. In a
survey, 19% of Beijing residents remembered having seen the boards
and 82% of those people said they would stop or reduce their
consumption of shark fin soup. Imagine the power of 1000 billboards for
an entire year. Help us make it happen!

Year of the Tiger
February 14th marks the beginning of the Chinese Year of the Tiger. WildAid has again partnered with international martial arts star Jackie
Chan and filmed a tiger awareness public service announcement urging
consumers not to buy tiger products. Look for the PSA in the coming
year! New studies indicate that there may be as few as 5,000 tigers left in the wild due to deforestation and poaching. Don't let the world's largest cat go extinct. Help us better track their movement with tiger camera traps. Click here to sponsor a tiger camera trap for $250

Successful Poaching Busts in the Galapagos
Fishermen illegally target marine life within the reserve, especially sharks for their fins, tuna, and sea cucumbers. Though our enforcement plan include continuous patrolling with both boats and planes, it is often not enough. In order to bust black market traders in the act, our field team employs clandestine informants.
WildAid has a long positive track record of working with informants in Galapagos and many of our most successful seizures have been the result of inside information. WildAid, the Park Service, and the Environmental Police desperately need $10,000 in order to ensure key seizures in the coming year. The purchasing of information has proven to be one of the most cost-effective mechanisms in law enforcement today.

Sniffer Dog Team
Over the past several years, WildAid
has worked closely with the Environmental Police in Galapagos by donating and
training sniffer dogs to detect sea cucumbers and shark fins leaving
the Islands.
The sniffer dogs have proven so successful that the
Environmental Police have actually received threats against the lives
of both Labrador Retrievers. Their presence clearly serves as a strong
deterrent for the shipment of illegal products on both commercial and
private flights and vessels. Most recently, Conservation International and WildAid donated
four new K-9s to the Environmental Police.
