Cleanse-Detox Program Services

Cleanse

Earthly Juices and Wheel of Wellbeing partner together to form a nutritional therapy that utilizes food as medicine. Our two- fold approach includes culinary training focused on the detoxification of the body with living juices and pure foods, while investigating the psychological triggers attached to harmful and addictive eating patterns. At Wheel of Wellbeing, we now offer the following on-going Nutritional Therapy services:

Juice Cleanses: 2-day, 4-day, 6-day, 8-day, and 10-day hand-crafted juice cleanses are delivered to you at the at one of our nearby Wheel of Wellbeing (available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings). A juice detox can dramatically improve your digestion by allowing your body to eliminating old waste from the digestive track while re-programming new beliefs about healthy eating habits. Every other day of your juice fast, Ellie Lara M.A., Detox Counselor, will meet with you for a 20-minute food coaching and detox support session. These mini food coaching sessions will begin to unpack your limiting belief system around food while you learning many new food-based habits.

Culinary Training:

We offer 1-on-1, or group, culinary training with healing and living foods Chef Jennifer Houst. Our detox food training is focused on meal plans and classes that will provide step by step instructions on how to integrate living foods into your lifestyle. We all know how to eat for pleasure but, very few people understand how to create delicious meals that heal the body from the inside out.

Food Coaching for Food Addicts: This psychological focused food coaching approach is for individuals that do not know what to do to stop binging, purging, or starving themselves. If you have a negative relationship with your body and you use food as an emotional crutch these creative interactive therapy sessions can be a fun and sensual way to re-orient yourself to eating pure food as a form of self nurturing.

Passing-Over Obstacles

By Daniel Sadigh, PsyD, LMFT

jumping over hurdleI have always looked at stories as symbolic expressions of human feelings. The story of Passover and what had to be overcome in exodus from Egypt is a valuable lesson in getting over the bondages of life.

We all have tense periods of difficulties, uncertainties, misunderstandings, disputes, losses, and challenges. During such times people use different strategies in order to overcome such hurdles. You may ignore the situation and pretend that nothing is wrong; feel frustrated and unable to make any progress; get upset and fight back; or, avoid all confrontations. A person who decides to face life's problems and pass-over obstacles needs to modify such personal strategies and learn how to transform hatred to acceptance. A happy and successful person pursues peace and freedom.

Imagine you are mistreated by a friend or disappointed in a business transaction. How would you feel?

This is not fair ..., I can't believe how people are ..., I am fed up with this situation ..., there is no justice in this world ..., I can't trust anyone ..., I am an idiot ..., it is insane ..., they deserve to die ..., I wish I could hurt them back ..., and many such other ANGRY expressions show a common state of feeling. The common denominator of all these emotional out-bursts is a spectrum of ANGER to HATE. Then let's consider that the emotional cost of your inability to pass-over an obstacle is becoming an angry or hateful attitude. If you agree with this argument, then you will also agree that feelings of hostility and hatred can diminish your ability to make clear and unbiased decisions. They are also exhausting, anxiety provoking, and...

Riding the bike of life!

Kid on bike

I remember one summer

afternoon when I was six years old I decided to take my cousin's bicycle for a ride. The thrill of the ride overshadowed logic; not realizing that the bicycle was way too big for my frame, I took on a task much bigger  than my skinny legs could handle.

I remember the fall and the feelings afterward vividly. My knees were bruised, hands were cut, and the pain was unbearable. My pride was battered beyond recognition.  I felt ashamed; this was the very first time that I experienced failure. At that moment, I proclaimed through uncountable tears that giving up biking was the only way to stay safe, both physically and emotionally. My little six-year-old mind decided I would never ride that damn bike again! And for many years I held true to that promise. In envy I watched as other kids happily rode their bikes, fearless and in control. So many times I wanted to give it one more try and get back on that bike and become proficient at it, but reluctantly remembered my oath to myself: stay safe.

Many times in my adult life I followed the same path and let go of opportunities only because it was the safe thing to do. It took many years of self-discovery and breakthroughs to be able to move through my fears.  Along the rocky road a few things helped me learn how to ride the bike of life:

  • Set goals that are realistic and attainable.
  • Have determination and the resolve to go beyond fears.
  • Maintain balance and momentum.

Although these are all important to getting you to where you want to be in life, balance and momentum have a significant importance.  You could have all the determination in the world, but if you don't have balance and can't keep your momentum up, you are inevitably going to fall again and again and success becomes a distant reality. By keeping your balance mentally, emotionally and physically you can build on your efforts over time. Success cannot be achieved all at once, we need to keep the momentum going and keep pedaling!

Even as adults, we can fall off that bike. Get back on, ride, and take that journey! Don't worry about the occasional bumps or the bruises. Don't watch with envy as other bicyclist pass you by.

Enjoy the ride!

"Relational Gestalt in Group Practice"

Tuesday May 17, 2011    7:30-9:00pm

Relational Gestalt Therapy

Led by Janice Gerard, Ph.D.

All Salons are free- Only, $5 for CEU processing

Much of the writing and practice of Relational Gestalt has been focused on individual psychotherapy. The principle of "All experience is co-created" has been mainly conceptualized as the therapeutic dyad in relationship to each other and their interaction with the complexity of the field.  The literature on Relational Gestalt as practiced in groups is limited. I would like to expand on several of the Relational Gestalt Principles by first naming them and extending these principles to group practice.

JANICE ROOSEVELT GERARD, Ph.D. is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and trainer in private practice  She received her Doctorate in Psychology in 1986 from the California School of Professional Psychology-Los Angeles and became a Certified Gestalt Therapist in 1994. For many years she has led training groups, workshops and has presented at international conferences on the subjects of Gestalt Dreamwork and transpersonal  psychology.
