  Introducing
Erin Hoopes, LMT LE HHC
Erin Hoopes
"I truly believe there is no one "way", modality that works for everyone. We all have a different path and purpose; I am here to assist in finding that path and to help call back the persons energy, so that they can create the life they wish to live.  This is my greatest happiness." -Erin

Erin is a Licensed Massage Therapist and has been practicing in a
variety of venues for the past 10 years. She is also trained in traditional Ayervedic treatments,
Reflexology, Pregnancy, and Hot Stone massage.

As a  trained Holistic Health Counselor and  Energy Healer, Erin combines the  knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern
concepts of nutrition. She is passionate about "chemical free food" and believes that the body and spirit can and will heal
with proper input.

She is also a trained Energy Healer from Invision in Chicago. While there, she learned to see and
sense energy in a new way. She fostered a non-judgmental witness approach to the healing process.

We are extremely excited to have Erin as our newest team member.

Me, You, & Us
By
Dr. Daniel Sadigh

Who are you if you were isolated? How would you feel if there was no one that you could relate with? Being in a relationship is a basic human need. Without other people in our lives we will not find our own values and may doubt the reasons for our existence. On one side of every relationship is a SELF that is the product of our families, cultures, and environments.  Our views of reality, which are generally a personal perception of the facts, determine how we view the SELF within any relational context.

Based upon our personal, social, and cultural experiences, we tend to belong to 3 distinct categories and I have experienced all 3 of them. As a young boy I grew up in a Collectivistic Culture, immigrated to an Individualistic Culture, and eventually transformed to a Communicative Culture. The distinctions are:

·    Collectivistic Cultures view SELF attached to or submerged in each relational context. This self is not an independent or findable entity and is only meaningful as part of a group. Relationships with family, friends, lovers, co-workers, and the community produce an internal feeling of safety for SELF; so, without those relationships we can lose our individual identity.

·    Individualistic Cultures view SELF as an independent, self-contained, and a causing force that is only responsible to secure one's self. In these cultures we place a high value on material possessions, successful appearances, rationality, and active progress while we practice a minimum attention on our behaviors. We view our relationships as something external to the SELF and hold the value of SELF above any others'.

·    Communicative Cultures view SELF as the joint product of a self/other reciprocative relationship. In this category the transformative power of communication and the focus on dialogue rather than monologue are essential to development of a healthy self. Integrated individuals have generally acquired more communicative skills and demonstrate a well- balanced sense of self.

The Value of Effective Communication in Relationships:

Transformation is the result of our ability to express self while we are in connection with another person. The tool for self-transformation is effective communication. Non judgmental communication generates mutual respect and builds meaningful relationships.  In many marriage and relational counseling sessions, the treatment plan of an experienced therapist facilitates new communication skills to replace the old patterns of misunderstandings.

These are seven helpful points to develop a more productive Self-Other relationship:

Generate an experience of LOVE in all your interactions, everywhere you go.
By
Julie-Anne Shapiro

So many of us are wishing and wanting for love, pining for love and complaining that we can't get love and will never have love.  We can see that within this there is a belief that love is something to 'get', that love is something to wait for, that we are somehow at the mercy of it coming our way, maybe it will, maybe it won't.  So many people I have worked with feel that only lucky people get love, that it's all down to luck and fate.

Our society also encourages this.  We are constantly bombarded with ways that we can be better in order to get love.  If we lose weight, eat the right food, exercise, join the right dating site, go to the right singles events, wear the right make-up, get some surgery, get our teeth whitened, find the right job, make more money, drive the right car, live in the right house in the right location....maybe, just maybe we'll get love.

We are constantly looking for something outside of ourselves to make love happen.  This kind of thinking ensures that we don't attract love.  It keeps us closed to love.

When we learn that love comes from within, that we have the power to create and cause love in our lives rather than passively waiting for love to happen, a whole new world of love opens up to us.

Love is in fact something to BE.  We can experience love at any time and everywhere we go, it is always available to us. We just need to make ourselves available to it.

When we start to live from a place of BEING love, people are drawn to us, people want to spend time with us.  We'll find that people want to give to us, they want to share themselves with us.  We become magnetic.

So how do we cause and create love in our lives?  Start to BE love. Start with simple things:

·    Pay someone a compliment

·    Initiate a conversation with someone that perhaps you wouldn't normally

·    Show someone some kindness, go the extra mile

·    Take the risk to ask for some support

·    Take the risk to be vulnerable with someone, maybe start with a friend or someone you trust

Spend some time at the end of the day reflecting on what these actions generated.  What new experience did you have?  Did you have an experience of feeling closer to someone?  Did you feel seen and heard in a new way?  Did you discover that someone was delighted to support you?  Did you experience a new sense of connection?  Did someone open up to you in a way that they haven't before?

Remember you can practice these things with anyone at anytime; friends, family, colleagues, neighbors, the bank cashier, the person on the grocery checkout etc.  There are opportunities for practicing BEING love everywhere.
