festival 2007

Greetings!

My dear sisters and brothers in our Lord Jesus Christ,

Our festival is this weekend - THANKS to all who have already volunteered. If you have not yet volunteered, please consider doing so - the more volunteers we have, the less work it will be for all volunteers. And don't forget to pray for good weather this week!

Fr. McCarthy's Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Sunday, June 27 at the 12:00 Noon Mass. Join in and say thanks to Fr. McCarthy for his two and a half years of ministry here and wish him well in his new assignment as administrator of Holy Name Parish in Trenton.

That's all for now - God bless!

St. Maximilian Kolbe HS Youth Ministry Camping & Canoe Trip

June 18, 19, & 20

Open to incoming 9th grade through 2010 HS graduates!

We are so excited to go camping and canoeing with you! We are expecting to have a ton of fun.

Please check out the list of "Stuff to Bring".  Keep in mind that we are "roughing it," but we will have access to showers and electricity at the bath house. Please leave all electronic devices at home. If you are driving and need a cell phone, plan on leaving it in your car. We are trying to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

If you have any questions, please contact the parish office. We are praying for great weather and no bugs, but be prepared for both!!

The Medical Release Form will cover all activities of St. Maximilian Kolbe Youth Ministry Program for the year 2010-2011.  Permission slips and payment for each specific activity off campus must also be turned in.  Please fill out and return both forms from the website.

Confirmation
Many thanks to the 179 families who attended this year's information meetings in anticipation of Confirmation on May 14th, 2011. All the candidates responded that 'yes' they would prayerfully discern their candidacy for Confirmation.
·        Reminder - the Conf Calendar and all other documentation will be on-line at the parish website by July 1st.
·        Discerning whether a candidate will be involved in Conf Prep this year lasts until Aug 15th when the registrations are due.
·        Discerning a sponsor should begin as soon as the candidate registers. Sponsor forms need to be returned (signed and with a seal) by Sept. 5th so we can send out a mailing and invite them to the Sept. 26th Conf Opening Event.
·        Please spend time this summer at the library or on-line learning about Saints. Many candidates indicate that they have a difficult time choosing a saint name. There are many books and web sites with short essays on saints to help us become familiar with them.
·        Reminder - the same Conf news is found in the parish bulletin or in the bi-monthly e-news or on the parish web site (starting July 1st). Choose your preferred form of media to find reminders and latest news
·        Questions?? Call Marlene at the Parish Office 777-4322 ex 118.

Note - We are no longer accepting aluminum cans for recycling

JrHigh 1X1 Upcoming Meetings

Any ministry wanting youth or youth/parent volunteer help, please send an inquiry e-mail to H2@saint-max.org. You'll receive a form to fill out to let H2 know what your needs are. This summer a new web page will be available with posting of the ministries that youth can contact to serve with. Also, the H2 e-mail will be used to send information to the youth.
·        Youth Festival Volunteers - contact Bridget Buchanan (phone 867-1656 or mstrytchr@fuse.net) and let her know the times you wish to work and/or what you are interested in doing. You can also stop by the festival worker sign up tables after any mass this weekend.

SACRAMENT PREPARATION UPDATE:

THINGS TO CONSIDER IF YOUR CHILD HAS CELEBRATED HIS/HER FIRST COMMUNION:

  • Please be attentive to continued Faith Formation for your child in the home and through parish activities.  Continued participation in a program of catechesis will be very beneficial to your child.
  • Please remember that your child will be excited to continue celebrating his/her First Communion again and again-help them keep their desire for Jesus alive by bringing them to Mass each Sunday.

THINGS TO CONSIDER IF YOUR CHILD WILL BE CELEBRATING HIS/HER FIRST COMMUNION NEXT YEAR:

  • Please be attentive to continued Faith Formation for your child, especially in the home.  Parents are key to successful preparation and faith development.  Your child will model your behavior, beliefs and priorities.
  • Parent meetings for Sacrament Preparation will be held on the following days/times-please select one day to attend:

                  Tuesday, Sept. 14, 7:00-9:00 pm

                  Sunday, Sept. 19, 7:00-9:00 pm

  • Please take some time to read and review Sacraments for Young People, a publication of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, before preparation formally begins at church.  You will have a better sense of the process and expectations.  (This document can be found on the parish website, www.saint-max.org, link to Sacraments, then to either Reconciliation or Eucharist.)

Please contact Mary Montour, 777-4322, X-120, with any

questions or concerns regarding the Sacrament Preparation

program, or e-mail: mmontour@saint-max.org.  Thank you!
