Hello,

Hope your week was great!

As I write this week's ZIED GUIDE, I'm enjoying two alone days with my husband in sunny Florida while our children are with my parents. It's so important, when you're a busy parent (with even busier children!) to find some time to connect with your spouse or significant other and/or with yourself. I'm fully enjoying our time together and know once our kids are back with us, it'll feel as though they were never gone!!

In this week's ZIED GUIDE you'll find smart snack strategies in my new More magazine online post; you'll also find delicious holiday fare for Passover from the great new book Passover the Healthy Way. I've also shared a link to my recent NY1 tv segment on red meat, as well as a link to an article addressing whether diet soda is addictive..and the debate goes on!

Before I forget, please let me know how you like my revamped web site, www.elisazied.com. And stay tuned--a new interactive feature on my web site is just moments away!

Have a great first week of Spring. Until next time,

Elisa

Snack Smart Strategies

Do you love to snack? You're not alone. Almost all of us have at least one (if not three) snacks a day. Check out my recent more.com blog on how to make snacking an ally--and not an enemy!

Visit The ZIED GUIDE Blog to find two delicious recipes--one for Chicken with Honey Wine Sauce (see photo below) and one for Craisin Almond Macaroons--from Passover the Healthy Way. And remember: YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE JEWISH to enjoy these recipes!

Here's a link to a recent clip on NY1 about the possible perils of red meat.

Do you think diet soda is addictive? Check out this article on Yahoo and share your thoughts with me on Twitter or on Facebook.

About Me

I'm a registered dietitian, author, freelance writer, and speaker based in New York City. I live in Manhattan with my two sons, Spencer, 13, and Eli, 10 and my husband of almost 18 years, Brian. I feel very fortunate to have a career I'm extremely passionate about and to share what I learn with consumers in a variety of ways.

Each and every day, I try to infuse my passion for living a healthful, balanced and enjoyable life into my work. My goal is to feel empowered and to empower others--a working woman with three kids, a new mom, a stay-at-home mom, an empty nester, children, and teens, and families--to take steps to create their own nutritious and active lives.

Through articles, blogs, television and video segments, print and online interviews, speaking engagements and spokesperson work, my goal has always been to translate information garnered from often times confusing scientific studies on food, nutrition, diet, fitness and health into practical, real world solutions consumers can apply and integrate into their own lives. I constantly read and stay in the loop about topics that resonate with consumers, and do my best to provide accurate, science-based information that makes sense so that consumers feel empowered to then take action to better their food and fitness habits to feel physically and mentally fit and optimize their health.
