Hope you had a great two weeks, and that the end of Summer and start to Fall is going well for you!
For the first time in about 7 years, I will not be attending the American Dietetic Association's annual Food and Nutrition Conference--it starts this upcoming Saturday in San Diego. But there's a good reason why I won't be there--I'll be sharing in the celebration of my son's bar mitzvah. Although I'll truly miss many wonderful colleagues and friends, and am sad that I won't be able to be part of an incredible and timely conference, nothing would ever come between me and watching my oldest son read from the Torah and become a Jewish man. (I highly doubt my eyes will stay dry that day!)
But back to the ZIED GUIDE....in this week's newsletter, you'll learn a little about the recent controversy over apple juice & arsenic from me and my esteemed colleague, registered dietitian Connie Diekman. You'll find my recent Calorie Count blog discussing whole vs refined grains. Finally, you'll see a recent tv interview that gives you the skinny (and my two cents) on serving sizes. Hope you all take some time these next two weeks (when The ZIED GUIDE returns) to stay fit, especially while the weather is nice. If you're limited on time, multitask! Meet a friend for a fitness class, call a friend while you're power walking, or watch Regis and Kelly, The View, or one of your favorite DVR'd sitcoms (or listen to a book on tape) while you dance or do calisthenics, walk on a treadmill, ride on a stationary bike, jump rope, or lift weights. Where there's a will there's a way, and you'll feel so much better physically and mentally when you fit in fitness. Until next time, Elisa |
