Hello all,

Hope you had a great week. As for me, this past week had some highs and a low. The highs included spending quality time with several close friends that I/we don't get to see as often as we'd like. The lows--we had the funeral of my husband's 93 year-old grandmother in Cleveland, Ohio. She was a very sweet woman, and we're so glad our entire family was able to see her over Spring break in Florida. While the funeral was, of course, a very sad occasion, it allowed us to visit with some of our relatives--including two adorable babies.

This past weekend, our youngest son Eli was John in his camp production of Peter Pan. We can't wait to speak with him and find out how it went. Although our kids aren't writing to us as often as they did at the start of the camp (much to our chagrin), the letters we do get and photos we see tell us they're still having a great time--so let's hope that's the case!! The boys will be home in less than 2 weeks, and although my husband and I have had a wonderful time together, we have felt like empty nesters and cannot wait to get them back!!

Hope you enjoy this week's ZIED GUIDE newsletter. Can you kindly forward it to a friend or two? And please connect with me on Facebook or on Twitter.

Have a great week!

What Are You Really Eating?

Is it organic? Is it genetically modified? What do these terms even mean? Here's a CBS TV clip with some of my tips to help you know what you're buying (and what's really in it) when you shop for food.

Grilled Plums with Yogurt Dip

Check out this ZIED GUIDE post for a delicious recipe for grilled plums--something great to make the next time you cook with (or for) your kids; it comes from the terrific new book, We Can Cook, by my friend & colleague Jessica Fishman Levinson and Maja Pitamic.
