Hello all,

Hope your week was great! Here in NY, it was hot, then cold, then rainy and wet. I am counting the days until I can put away the boots and wear a light jacket and call it a day!

This week's newsletter includes tips to help you go green in the kitchen, and has two great recipes you'll want to try (and that your family is sure to love.) My recent blog post on food addiction is also included--I'd love you to weigh in!

I also wanted to update you on my Walk A Marathon progress. I'm proud to say that, like last week, I successfully walked the distance of a marathon this past week (my "exercise mileage added up to 25.8 miles, but I didn't include other steps I took in my leisure life that certainly added up to more than 0.4 miles to make it an even 26.2 miles.) I hope you will join me this week in walking--the easiest form of exercise to incorporate into your life, bar none! Hope you all have a fantastic and active week!

Elisa

PS: The surprise interview I promised for this week had to be held back until next week, so please stay tuned. I hope you don't curb your enthusiasm (hint hint) to read it until then......

Going 'Ecotarian:' 8 Tips to Go Green When You Eat

Jackie Newgent's "8 Eco-Rules" and tips for simply and painlessly becoming a greener eater-or an "ecotarian:"

1.     Prepare plant-based meals. Try to include a fresh fruit or vegetable in every recipe. Fill half of your plate with produce when possible.

2.     Be an energy-wise cook. Let small appliances rule. A toaster oven works just like a regular oven, but more energy efficiently-using only about half of the energy of a conventional oven. And due mainly to faster cooking times, the microwave oven can reduce energy use by about 2/3 (maybe more!) compared with the conventional oven.

Check out Jackie's 6 other tips here.

That's a Wrap!

Here are two delicious recipes--one for chicken lettuce wraps, and one for frozen hot chocolate from Today Show nutritionist Joy Bauer's book, Slim & Scrumptious. Check them out here.

Are You a Food Addict?

Food addiction--does it really exist? There's a new show on OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) that goes behind the scenes with so-called food addicts, but what's the truth--can people really be addicted to food? Check out my recent blog on the topic, and please share your thoughts.
