Greetings!
This week's newsletter is all about breakfast. Of course you've heard it's the most important meal of the day. That's because a morning meal is a great wake up call to your body and brain, and tells them you're ready to pursue an active and productive day. Unfortunately, a good number of children (about 1 in 5) and adolescents (close to 1 in 3) routinely forgo breakfast according to a recent study in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association. A lot of adults tend to skip it as well, perhaps because they're in a rush, or don't like or have on hand so-called "breakfast foods," or don't know how important a morning meal is to their overall health. Whether you skip breakfast altogether or have it everyday but are simply tired of the same old, same old, this week's newsletter is packed with expert out-of-the-box breakfast ideas (including some of my own) to help you start your day off energized and incorporate some of those hard-to-get-enough-of foods and nutrients (think whole grains, low fat dairy, fiber, calcium, and vitamin D) into your diet. Have any breakfast foods you love or can't live without? Please share a recipe you or your family loves with me on twitter or facebook, and you may very well find it in a future ZIED GUIDE™ newsletter, blog post, or article. Have you had your breakfast today? Elisa |
