Though my kids don't start back at school until after Labor Day and our family will have a week's vacation to look forward to (starting with a low-key family birthday celebration for yours truly at the end of August), I feel like the summer is definitely drawing to a close. In one respect, I'm excited about that since our 12 year old, who's been having a great time at overnight camp, is finally coming home this Sunday (I cannot wait to smother him with hugs and kisses--if he lets me, that is!). On the other hand, I'm not feeling like my usual perky self because of a wrist injury I've had for more than 8 weeks; though it's healing, my progress is slower than I expected and I still feel discomfort most of every day. I also have to have a benign mole removed from my back this week which does not make me happy, though I know it's necessary.
Though my mood has not been great, I tell myself everyday that things could always be worse. Not to sound sappy, but
I always try to take time each and every day to be thankful for the many blessings in my life, and try to take it one day at a time, and stay busy with work, fitness, family, and friends. And when I'm down, I try to
set new goals related to food and fitness to myself stay mindful of the choices I make that impact my lives and that of my family. I also think goal-setting can help get anyone out of a rut. For this summer, I set two goals: to walk more than 20 miles each week and to drink more water (and less diet soda). So far, so good.
What are your goals?
