President's Corner
Dear :
Congratulations to President Elect Dulcinea Almazan and her incoming Board. While we haven't completed this year, she has already begun planning her year will need each of you to step up and be a part of her vision for our Club. I know the Club will continue on an incredible path with her leadership!
Congratulations to the BIG winners from the "Big Game" Boards. Our own Robin Smith seemed to be the biggest winner, and Centennial Colorado President Randy Pote was right behind her. A BIG event for our Club's Foundation. Thank you to all who helped with the sales.
Membership should be something you consider each time you think of Rotary. Please remember to ASK a like-minded individual to join us for lunch, learn about our members and the role that Rotary plays not only in our community, but globally. Remember your Rotary experience and share it with others. The upcoming Birthday Bash and Three Square are two perfect opportunities to introduce someone to Rotary.
Linda Bertuzzi, President, LV Fremont Rotary Club
Fremont members - "ASK" someone to experience Rotary! Don't keep us a secret.............
"The purpose of life is not to be happy - but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all." ~Leo Rosten |

Last Week's Program & News
Hesham Elnagar believes in connections. An Ambassadorial Scholar sponsored by the Green Valley Rotary Club, he studied at Canterbury University in New Zealand as he toured the Country talking to Rotary Clubs along the way. Hesham has a strong passion for music and photography, and had previously visited New Zealand with a school choir. He aim as Rotary's Ambassadorial Scholar was to be the ambassador of goodwill, getting outside of his comfort zone and engaging in lifelong learning. He identified the four key elements of his visit - Friendship, Trust, Honesty & Hope. Very similar to the Four-Way test. Hesham can be reached at [email protected].
Past Presidents Allen Puliz (04-05 & 06-07) and Roy York ((95-96 & 09-10)were both in attendance last week, returning after hip surgeries. Welcome back to both of you. Membership Chair Robin Smith will be including our Club's spouses in our Anniversary Party planning. RI & District 5300 news
Weekly Foundation Thought
This week's Rotary Foundation Thought is about becoming a Bequest Society member and leaving your legacy through The Rotary Foundation.
This is best expressed through a quote from the founder of The Rotary Foundation and Past RI President, Arch C. Klumph -
"There are tens of thousands of Rotarians who will look upon this opportunity (building the Rotary Foundation as a real privilege)...Then there are other men who are seeking ways and means of leaving some part of their wealth where it may do the greatest good for humanity. What better equipped organization or institution than Rotary International can be found to be entrusted with such funds?"
Join with fellow Rotarians past and present who have left their legacy by remembering the foundation in their estate plans.
RI Pilot Programs
The RI Board of Directors has approved four areas as pilot projects tests beginning next year. Each club president and president-elect has received information from RI on application procedures and forms to apply for one of these pilot projects. Applications for project are due to RI by 1 April 2011. Clubs in District 5300 are encouraged to consider applying to pilot one of these ideas.
Associate Member Pilot: Allows an individual to become associated and acquainted with a Rotary club, its members, its programs and projects, and the expectations of club membership with the intent of becoming an active member within a designated period of time.
Corporate Member Pilot: Allows a corporation or company in the club's area to become a member of the Rotary club, with up to four designees as its representatives.
Satellite Club Pilot: Allows a Rotary club to conduct multiple club meetings during a week, each taking place at a different location, on a different day, and/or at a different time.
Innovative and Flexible Rotary Club Pilot: Allows clubs to self-determine their operations to fit better with the needs of their members and community. Clubs would be authorized to make changes to the Standard Rotary Club Constitution and to their Rotary Club Bylaws.

The Four Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? |
